Larry Brooks at the New York Post points out that when the Rangers traded Del Zotto on January 23rd they were at the top of the NHL with a 20% (37-for-186) success rate. Since? Try 12% (9-for-78).
- jimbro83

Is this for powerplay? It's funny cause Del Zotto wasn't always getting powerplay time anyway

So is he saying the Rangers traded Sergei Zubov again?

No doubt, he provides that physical edge and still fit within what the Rangers try to do from a hockey standpoint. Dare I say he gives the lineup a little jam?
- Blueshirts4ever

Not only what you said but it just makes the lineup complete. Gives Stepan and Nash more comfort and chemistry on that top line and allows Hagelin to slide back with St. Louis and Richards. Really solidifies the lineup

Absolutely agree. AV needs to figure it out quick though, if Kreider isn't back before the playoffs. That 2nd line looks awful.
- mdw7413

You mean JT Miller better figure it out quick but if he gets his act together he could replace a lot of what Kreider gives this team. Grow up kid!!!

At this point, no way he gets a chance this year. Only 3 games left, I don't see AV giving him another chance unless they are forced to by more injuries.

Yup. He could be our version of Milan Lucic, big, fast, can score 20-30 goals every year and be a monster. McDonagh too, just completes the blueline, settling effect, is as tough as anyone...

Its too bad, and I can't blame AV, he sees things we don't see so its easy for us to say "why the hell is he in Hartford" but the first time he costs the Rangers a big goal in the playoffs we will kill him...

I still have my hope he could be back. You would figure the organization would say he is done for the year if he had no chance of playing.

Unless they are just giving him the Michael Sauer treatment and he is floating into a black hole right now. We would never know.

Match penalty for Rinaldo. Guess having John Scott in the lineup didn’t deter that.

This struck me as funny, I'm convinced these guys read these boards.

Well that too. Still would love to know what it is that JT is doing that AV doesn't like. From the way it was said it has to be off ice things, because on the ice I think he has been ok. I got to believe someone can fill in that line though before Kreider is back, other than Carcillo on the 1st, or Boyle on the 2nd. The 4th line was going well, should have left them together.

Broken bones take minimum four weeks, the surgery was hopefully just to put the bone back in a position to heal properly and doesn't extend what the normal healing process would be. That would put him at the earliest the end of the first round. I just can't see the organization risking anything thats permanent, he is a big part of the future and has shown a real upside to the point that you live with whatever shortcomings he has away from the puck and that part will get better with experience.

You are never going to deter the idiots like Rinaldo. I actually was fine with how they responded against Ottawa, I just wanted to see that when McDonagh was down.

Is it for sure a broken bone? I haven't heard any confirmation on that yet.

Depending on how many games Rinaldo gets, he could miss part of the playoff series vs the Rangers...if they meet

Girardi did take swings at Burrows, was it a 5 man swarming? No, but I'm still not sure the players on the ice knew exactly what happened. The other night they all knew and I agree, they responded appropriately.

Good possibility, especially since he has a history of this stuff. I'm assuming remaining league games and 2-3 playoff games since a playoff game is basically considered what, 2? games when suspended

Is his hearing on the phone or in person? If its in person than its minimum 6 games which would mean he is missing at least game 1.

"I had a lot of speed going at him. I put my shoulder down, and as he shot the puck, my shoulder hit him clearly," Rinaldo said. "Proof is in the pudding right there. I shouldn't have done it. There's no need for it. We're up 4-0, but it's part of the game."

Really??

Well he is right, head shots are still part of the game cause of players like him and the league's refusal to take a stronger stand to those who do it
