But removing him from the best role he can fill just so he can score more goals seems silly.

Especially since prior to this 5 period stretch goal scoring has not been a weak point for them.

He is 21. Why would you not put the best defensive center on the team in a role he can help the team with? He is already one of the best defensive centers in the league. He has been shutting top guys in the league down since he came into it. His offensive game will come around. But removing him from the best role he can fill just so he can score more goals seems silly.

No worries can agree to disagree. I think the kid could use some time away from a constant shutdown role, and having to defend. If the Flyers cant have the Giroux or LeCavalier line take some of those minutes then we have issues.

They're playing like a team thats just gone through an extremely difficult stretch of games with no time off. I think they find a way to tie this game up and get at least one point. I then think they are going to lay a beating on Buffalo tomorrow.

I have no doubt whatsoever that they finish with 94+ points and end up 3rd in the Metro.

they will make the playoffs, but i would like to see it not be such an excruciating process.

Again though, if we look back who was leading the team in that? Either Giroux's line or the #1 PP unit primarily.

Secondary scoring has been an issue for more than just the last few games.

I don't mean the following in a confrontational way...

How many players do they have with 15 or more goals currently and where does that stack up in the league?

I have to look it up but I know as of a few weeks ago they were near the top in that.

Giroux and Vinny are not great defensively. Seems to make more sense to me to have the good defensively guy shutting down, and the more offensive guys trying to score more. Problem right now is the offensive guys are MIA. Couturier is still doing his job.

Also, Cooter is on the 2nd pp unit. It's not like he's banished to defense only. 2nd PP unit has about 0 points this year on the PP it seems.

Either way, that line is a disaster together.

poopty time of year to panic with major line-up changes but if this continues you have to figure Berube does something. Or stays the course... Who knows.

That 2nd PP unit worries me more about giving up a SH goal instead of scoring a PP one.

I'd simply like to see the kid given a bit more of a shot away from a shutdown role. Focus on developing your future, instead of "win now". Not really a huge thing, but I do feel like he is being slightly stunted by always having to be in a shutdown position.

it's easy to see why with the way his hands went up ..

Man Rask is soooo good.

Brayden Schenn is arguably the worst player on the ice. I count 4 failed clears so far and nothing on the offensive end.

that sequence was the only the 2nd or 3rd legitimate scoring chance they've had. they need more.

Not really a win now thing to have him play where he is best. He is young, and he'll eventually be putting more pucks in net. He'll be ok, just needs more time in the league. His offensive woes aren't caused by his role, in my opinion. But we can agree to disagree.

Must be because he was moved to the wing?

he's not doing much of anything either. the whole team is just flat as a pancake. the 2nd period is also traditionally a poor one for them, so i'm not surprised by what i'm seeing so far.
