YOU'RE a statement game.

and spin on it!

I was hoping they'd do better...

It depressed my night a little. The NYRs getting a point later in COL didn't help my mood but it did put a dent in the quantities in the beer fridge.

No, I've actually held back on one poster so far today. Trying to not really get worked up.

Identical? Not really. Especially when you break it down to even-strength stats.

Bob has faced 1227 ES shots and saved .929 of them.

Mason has faced 1380 ES shots and saved .922 of them.

If you give Mason a .929 save % on his 1380 shots, he would have let in 10 less goals this season. That's a lot.

So while, I would agree if you said the stats were "close", but Bobrovsky's been better.

I may be sounding dumb, but why does only ES goals against matter?

Pitbull > Nickleback and Creed.

Nickleback = Bieber.

Miley Cyrus > Nickleback

None of this is true.

The (frank) it isn't. I would listen to anyone over Nickleback and Creed. Bieber is a punk and a brat, but at least he's not Chad Kroger. Also, Creed is the only band to ever have a class action lawsuit brought against them for being horrible in concert.

Do you have statistics on what an optimal number of shots a goaltender can face before the SP degrades?

For example, you point out that Mason has faced more shots. Over 100, in fact. I'm certain that's a factor in these numbers.

Our Penguins fan, who was probably one of the most unbiased posters in here, was apparently berated by you to such a degree that he felt unwelcome on the board.

are you serious??
let's all go over this again.

i told him to stop insulting flyers fans. apparently that was such an awful act that it will go down in infamy. some people can sure dish it out but don't like being called out on it.

sorry but i find that whole thing ridiculous

Because there's such variance in special teams play from year to year. It's not a good indicator of a goalie's true worth/value.

I would listen to Miley Cyrus over Creed and Nickleback. Their music makes me legitimately angry. Miley Cyrus will just make me roll my eyes.

I'll give you a hint:
"The Flyers winning late last year was the worst thing in the history of ever because they could have had Seth Jones with 4 more losses."

Which is 1) completely unture, 2) a disrespect to both the fans and players, 3) making a mockery of the game, and 4) the worst possible mentality (losing is okay) for a young team. Of course, my threat of physical violence wasn't the best idea either. Which is why I'm trying to not get worked up any more.

Not a dumb question at all.

Teams spend relatively short time on the PK so you get a much smaller sample size there... it's also seems to be pretty random from year to year statistically. So ES SV% is generally a stronger indicator of goaltending quality.

If you factor in the games started, the difference is less than 1 ES shot per game faced.

BOB: 1227 ES shots in 53 starts = 23.15 per game

Mase: 1380 ES shots in 57 starts = 24.21 per game

So I don't really think it's a factor.
