Almost as telling as blindly defending everything. The Cubs could use some more Yes Men on their brigade.

Since you're good at this, I want you to go through seven years of my Hockeybuzz postings and mention every time I've blindly defended every move the organization has made.

Please. Prove me wrong. You obviously enjoy this as an activity.

I hear what you are saying with the Mason acquisition. He was acquired for nothing. I would rather have Bobrovsky, but Mason has played well. Although the transaction wasn't Mason for Bobrovsky, it can be viewed as that.

Nothing to show from 2007 is tough to swallow. A lot of times when teams pick in the top 3, they get a franchise player.

- PLindbergh31

Personally, I think JVR will be a franchise player. Or at least a compliment to one which is all they need here with Giroux. I think he puts up a 45+ goal season sometime in the next 3 years but that's just my opinion.

The JVR for Schenn trade made no sense to me at the time. Obviously they needed a young defenseman but not that kind of young defenseman.

The past is the past. I wanted them to exercise patience with JVR and I want them to do the same with Luke. If they trade him in the off season for a second and a third or some garbage I will lose it. Especially if Grossmann is still on this team.

L. Schenn isn't 20 years old. He's 24, and it's his 6th year in the NHL.
- PLindbergh31

Yep, he's 24, is in his 6th year. And I'll add is playing pretty good Hockey for this team lately.

I'm not aware of anyone who blindly defends everything with the team.

I didn't watch past the first (sick, so I was asleep by 8) but from what I saw, they just got plain outworked. Simple as that. They had more shots in the first, but they were low quality, a lot of one-and-done zone entries.

If constantly pointing out every mistake the Flyers have ever made makes you a better fan than me than so be it. You win. You are the best Flyers fan. No trade the Flyers have ever made was good. They should just fold the team and move on.

Everyone stop watching the Flyers! There former goalie got a shut out against them.

I hate what some Philadelphia fans have become. All pessimism. Have fun enjoying nothing....ever.

I'll go out on a limb and state that JVR doesn't get anwhere near the franchise level as a player. And I'd be very surprised to see him hit the 45 goal mark. But you never know.
I think JVR is a pretty good player, but drasticlaly overrated by many.

Final thoughts for now: From an offensive standpoint, the Flyers tend to go as Claude Giroux goes.

This is 100% correct.

As teams take time and space away from Giroux, it's important for others to step up and get the greasy goals and fight through these defensive schemes that look like they are simply collapsing in front of the goaltender.

There wasn't enough of that effort last night, although I think there was against St. Louis.

Lol.

I won't even bother pointing out the differences.

Homer should pull off Zhitnik for Coburn in every trade. Any failed trade should result in his firing.

I know this is a joke, but this is Hockeybuzz after all so I'm not going to take any chances.

Runblad hasn't played a single minute in the NHL yet.

I heard that Stefan kid has some great skill too.

- KGBflyers10

It was sarcasm. Schenn showed last year he can be a top 4 defenseman when paired with another top 4 defenseman (gasp). I am still advocating our defense to look like

Timo-Schenn
Mac-Streit

No, it's impossible that the Flyers had a bad game last night.

I was of the impression Bob Rovsky not only pitched the shutout but scored both goals.

Nonsense. He'll never be good, because players like Zdeno Chara are putting up 50 points every year as soon as they break into the NHL. He's the worst defenseman of ever! BURN HIM!!!

So when we lose you post about the bad trades Holmgren has made. How come when we win you don't post about the great trades Holmgren has made?

He, also, solved world peace, stopped all gun violence and convinced Putin to stop invading other countries. He's close to figuring out how the universe began, but hey, the man does need to sleep at some point.

Calling a player who plays on the third pairing, and is last in icetime amongst defenseman on the team a 6th defenseman is laughable?

Someone doesn't have to blindly defend every single move a team makes to be a fan.

- PLindbergh31

Oh this is hilarious.

You mean kind of like how you, Winning, and Just5 or whatever don't have to blindly berate the GM and players of this team to be a "fan"?

If you think I look through shades, yours are 10x thicker and it's quite the pain in the ass

Those pairings work for me as well. A pair like Coburn-Grossmann could be huge (no pun intended) in the playoffs. Coburn seems to ramp up his physical play in the postseason and the refs seem to let a little more go which helps Grossmann. They could be a really nasty, hard to play against shutdown pair.

Timo-Schenn scares me a bit due to lack of mobility, but Timo makes up for that to some degree with positioning and smarts. Also by not having to be the shutdown pair, they won't see as many tough matchups.

Finally, Mac-Streit is a very nice combo of mobility and skill and more than acceptable as a 3rd pairing.
