Holmgren's returns for a Vezina winning goaltender, and a 30 goal scoring power forward are:

A 6th defenseman, and a few draft picks that may or may not be NHL players.

Sorry, have to do better than that.

- PLindbergh31

It really bothers me that we suffered that horrid 2007 season, and now all we have as a reward is Luke Schenn.

However, the Bob situation is kind of made up with the acquisition of Mason. Had we not gotten Mason then it would look real bad cause they seriously franked that one up.

I know. Somehow, the year before we ended up making the playoffs and were only rewarded with Claude Giroux. Life is so unfair.

Calling a player who plays on the third pairing, and is last in icetime amongst defenseman on the team a 6th defenseman is laughable?

Someone doesn't have to blindly defend every single move a team makes to be a fan.

- PLindbergh31

I firmly believe Luke Schenn fills into a top pairing defenseman sometime in the near future. I was merely pointing out that your statement seemed to suggest that Schenn would not continue to improve or turn into something more than what you call a 6th defenseman.

No Luke Schenn is all tapped out at 24. Rundblad has worlds of potential at 23 though.

They may or may not be a future Vezina-winning goaltender or 30 goal scorer.

Sound ridiculous, right?

Well so does your argument. No one knows whether or not Bob would be a Vezina winning goaltender. JVR would probably turn into a 30 goal scorer, but let's not pretend that he was lighting the lamp all the time here in Philadelphia, or was consistant as Claude Giroux has been for the past three months.

Also, calling Luke Schenn a sixth defenseman is laughable.

Do you even like the Flyers?

- KGBflyers10

All I know is that if I looked at something like a sports team that I root for, and I had nothing but 99.9% pessimisim towards the team and everything about it, I'd find something else to occupy my free time and move towards something that I might enjoy more. No way would I go through life with that kind of attitude towards anything. It's very telling.

Mason and Bob have nearly identical stats. Im not sure why you're complaining about. If Mason ends up being just as good as Bob, the Flyers end up winning out by getting a legit goaltending prospect in Stolarz. The Flyers as a team were outplayed last night. They didn't deserve to win.

I hear what you are saying with the Mason acquisition. He was acquired for nothing. I would rather have Bobrovsky, but Mason has played well. Although the transaction wasn't Mason for Bobrovsky, it can be viewed as that.

Nothing to show from 2007 is tough to swallow. A lot of times when teams pick in the top 3, they get a franchise player.

I know this is a joke, but this is Hockeybuzz after all so I'm not going to take any chances.

Runblad hasn't played a single minute in the NHL yet.

I heard that Stefan kid has some great skill too.

L. Schenn isn't 20 years old. He's 24, and it's his 6th year in the NHL.

Exactly. Bob and Mason have almost identical numbers. Bob plays for a team that is better defensively. He should have way better numbers. Not just a slight advantage in save percentage and GAA.

Almost as telling as blindly defending everything. The Cubs could use some more Yes Men on their brigade.
