I don't think Depres would beat him in a fight for the puck actually, but now that Martin is back neither will be playing, and this organization has no plans of developing Despres. My guess is he did something to really piss them off, and we couldn't trade him because of injuries at the deadline..........I think a good old fashion bru ha might be good for the pens actually.

Sure...okay. That's what they need to be focusing on. Not being more consistent defensively and trying to be more rounded when it comes to scoring.

C'mon man.

Yes he is practicing in full, has been for awhile. No indication when or if he's coming back to the best of my knowledge, but I expect that he will before the playoffs.

FWIW.....Mark Madden said a week or so ago that he's hearing Letang plans on returning for the last three games of the season.

Probably a good estimate. Sometimes it's hard to gauge with Madden. He might be hearing his stomach gurgling.

That'd be a good enough warmup. At least for what's realistic anyway.

I should have really stressed the FWIW.

He was talking a lot of Dan Bylsma hate yesterday......especially how he is playing Engo over Despres. It was like a sugar high for me.

The uselessness of those charts is ably displayed by the fact that they indicate that Engo makes Jame Neal a better player.

I can relate. I'll credit Bylsma for plenty but that's a problem for me. Not just Despres either. It's been this way forever. You know. He's trying to cling to that style and it's frustrating.

Yup, you have to sift through a lot of the dbaggary to get to the good stuff. The off button is a frequently used option for me.

Thanks. In reality it would be nice to see Tanner Glass throwing the body like he did at the beginning of the season. Its always better when the other team is chasing you around looking for a fight.

Oh yeah? Well I bet Despres's grandmother could beat up Engelland's grandmother!

I'd be okay with Pyatt being benched and Eng playing on 4th line.
- kgrpitt

i never minded him on the 4th line. seems to play decent there. way better than adams.

I cant wait until we have a new coach... the doors it will open.

So you think a defensive minded coach like Martin would be what we need?

Despite believing in the old adage "defense wins championships", I don't think the guys we have are best suited for a system like his that may limit their offensive potential.

Im not saying the Pens wouldn't be capable of playing a defensive system, or that we shouldn't play one. I just don't think it would play to their strengths. Think Torts in NY.

never said that this team needs or should get Martin. Same thing with Trotz when he becomes available from Nashville.

What this team needs is a players coach who is still willing to hold his guys accountable. Bylsma is not the coach this team needs, he is a coach who creates offense through his system rather than his players. I could see him go to Nashville if both teams are looking for a new coach after the season. he belongs on a club where he needs to try to generate offense. This team needs a coach who will generate a defensive scheme that is bought by all players.

therrein has proven that a completely defensive minded-coach's coach wont work. That kind of hockey will lose the interest of the players very quickly and when the coach isn't a very well liked coach like therrein was, then firing him isn't a big deal.

I always liked Rick Tochett. I follow him on Twitter and I really respect his opinions about the penguins. Also keep in mind that WBS again has one of the best AHL coaches in John Hynes if they chose to go that road.

This team needs a coach will who utilize his players in the way that they were given to him by the GM. Shero giving Bylsma Iginla and then Bylsma using Iginla as a LWer just shows his complete lack of awareness and sense.

I don't think Bylsma is the answer. this team can do better.
