Yep, there was no doubt in my mind that he tore his ACL on that play. No doubt!

On a relate note, the term indefinetely means that there is no set time table for the players return -- i.e., that you don't have a range of when he may or may not be back. So, when the Rangers say that term is inaccurate to describe McDonagh's situation, I would assume that they have some idea when he could return.

I wish they would tell me something on Kreider. The fact that they won't rule him out for the season/playoffs is keeping me intrigued.

I will say this, however, in my defense. How many times does a player go down the way McDonagh did, and it's not a serious knee injury. I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever seen a player go down like that, and not miss significant time (except for McDonagh, which I am glad make me look stupid).

Edit: I just watched the play again. I am still convinced he tore his ACL by his reaction. They must have replaced him with a bizarro Ryan McDonagh.

Ironically Rangers coach Ulf Samuelsson knows exactly how one should retaliate: Tie Domi gave him a free lesson while Ulf was playing for the Rangers.

I dunno, I usually stick up for my guys, especially against a POS like Burrows but it seems to me like it wasn't intentional. Yes there wasn't time left in the game but Burrows went for the sandwich hit and McD was caught in an awkward position being already pushed by Kassian. It also seems like Burrows was putting his arms up to brace himself going into the boards at the same exact time McD kinda turned into his hit so the arm got up high.

Crawford was awful, Hawks won in spite of him. Lack could have been in net and the Hawks would still have won.

I was just reading the TSN article about Oates calling out Ovi for quitting on the Stars fourth goal last night. I didn't realize he is a -36 on the year. How you can have 48 goal, 72 points and have that plus/minus rating is beyond me.

How many PP goals does he have bc bc the +\- is an even strength stat. Gotta figure at least half are PP goals.

They're screwing this one up, Hartford isn't making the playoffs so what is he gaining?

Maybe you can call it that, but I am just saying that you don't fight battles on terms you can't win. If bad guy X beats up one of your friends, and there is no way you can take bad guy X in a straight up fist fight, it is not a deterrent to bad guy x to stop engaging in the same actions by getting into a straight up fight with him. It would, however, be a deterrent to hit bad guy X (or one his friends) in the back of a leg with a 2X4 when he isn't looking.

I am just speaking of the most effective ways to deter, IMO, which engaging is some useless fight is not.

- Pete V

Agree 100%. I recall one time in my youth I was prepared to fight some guy (over a girl of course) and he backed out because he was an adult and I was 17. He didn't want to get in trouble (wussy). Later he said it was a good thing for me we didn't fight because he had been boxing for four years. I said, "Listen friend, I wasn't going to stand there and box with you." I then told him more or less that the first chance I got to kick him in the sack or take his knee out, I'm taking it. This isn't an honorable thing we're talking about here. It's about hurting the other guy enough to get him to quit.

22 goals on the PP for a team with a -14 goal differential. And I used to consider him in the argument as best in the NHL. Shame on me.

I think the effect of having goons/tough guys as a deterrent is very overstated, especially in the playoffs, when everybody is going 110% no matter the opponent. Boston is going to wear down any team, big or small, and we probably match up better trying to beat them with speed and skill than a team that would try to out-physical them and beat them at their own game.

At this point, I am just resigned to the fact that fans will always dwell on the flaws of a team and overstate their effect, instead of just looking at how they have been playing overall, which in this case is pretty darn well.

- AgraipVigneaurd

I agree; not all teams have to be overly physical like that. Look at
Detroit -they don't really employ a fighter at all, they beat you
In other ways. Much as I would LOVE to see someone pound
Burrows weasely arse sideways. Hopefully this team stands by each
Other in other ways. They aren't going to throw down at every opportunity.
Better to score on the PP.
