No to UFA's. With this team out of the running and the poor season players need to be moved and youth needs to be brought up. All the hype at the beginning of the season from Tort's and Gillis about youth we haven't seen them up until now and only because there is no other choice. The one thing that drives me nuts about this team is all the BS propaganda we have to endure from management and coaching.

If I could, I would post a video of "the Wiser's league of gentlemen" robustly clapping in response to this statement.

Enjoyed reading all of the comments on coaching. No coach is perfect but Torts did a nice job building the Ranger roster. It was a tight knit very hard working group. He has a hard head for sure and we all hated his hard on for Kreider but he did let other very young kids play big minutes and learn on the job. If management is going to blow up the team and rebuild, it might actually be best to fire Gillis and keep Torts. He was always a guy that was looking long term more than short, even though NY wants a competitive team every year. The whole Broadway thing, you know. He might be the best to build a foundation for another year or two if the fans will tolerate it. Hockey isn't a year round big interest sport in NY, so he had quite a bit less stress there, I know. I am not sold on AV yet either. Curious to see how he can adjust in a seven game series. That ability is suspect from what I have seen on a game to game basis. You have seen him longer and would know more than I.

i wouldn't trade lazar straight up for edler........and neither would murray.

he's the 3rd ranked overall prospect (already drafted obviously), not currently on an NHL roster (as per ISS and central scouting), behind only drouin and john gibson. kid is gonna be a stud.

murray has said multiple times that there is no chance he's trading lazar.

Canucks cap situation for next year is looking pretty good (approx $10.5M in space) but they still need to resign Kassian, Santorelli and Tanev.

My guess is that they don't buyout Booth. I think that with his somewhat improved play of late and the fact he only has one year left on his deal they could find someone willing to take him in the offseason. At this point, if a team has the cap space (which plenty will) it's incredibly low risk.

Why buyout Booth ? Buy out one of those NTCs

If this ownership actually cares about winning, they shouldn't be afraid to admit mistakes and pay up for them. TB bought out Lecavalier, why can't FA fire Torts and/or buyout Booth? I know it's millions of dollars and easy for me to say, but as an owner you should do what's best or the organization(your expensive asset).

Don't understand why they even gave Torts that many years, did he have multiple offers? Doubt it. 3 would have been fine, extend him later if he does that well. He's not exactly a long-term type of coach.

- Nucker101

He didn't have multiple offers according to Botch this morning. This was the one and only offer.

I doubt Booth is bought out. Cap space is not an issue. Theres no Free agents worth spending on anymore.
Vanek/Moulson/Legwand?

Canucks should get Don Hay from the Giants. He keeps that team competitive and entertaining year in year out, while losing his best players every year. And he's obviously good at developing young talent.

Edler will land more and will be more likely to waive his NTC.

Apparently we were the only one interested in him. We gave him AV money AV had a couple of teams bidding for him.

This has FA written all over it.

really?

both are young. both have shown (although stone in limited games) that they can play top six/four minutes.

you guys have VERY LITTLE talent below the age of about 29-30....i would think two players like (both with very low cap hits) would be EXACTLY what the canucks would need.

- sensarmy_11

How about you keep those 2 young yet career fringe NHLers and trade us Mika Z? Canucks were offered 1st, 3rd and Sooner at the deadline.

Daniel Horvat Fox 17 min a night
macyntyre Lain / Richardson Sestito 6 min a night

Richardson deserves more than 6 min a night. No to the Kesler trade scenario.

I'd take the lineup as follows:

Santorelli Kesler Kassian 18 min a night
Jensen Hank Burrows. 17 min a night
Daniel Matthias Higgins 15 min a night
Booth Richardson Sestito 10 min a night

Any reason why you omit Matthias? he's been one of our best players since coming over in the trade.

you realize that wiercioch is younger, cheaper.......and in 20 some less games, over the last 2 seasons, has only 3 less points. not really sure i'd qualify that as a "fringe NHLer".

thanks though, i'll keep him.

edler is good, but i think you guys are over-valuing him quite a bit.....especially considering how he's playing this year.

He is young , he can score and he can pass . We need that , put him on the farm for a year or two. More importantly we get rid of one of those stupid NTCs
