Why not try and take a stab at the Wings asst. coach, Tom Renney? Former Babcock minions have had some minor success.
- YzermanIsTheMan

Renney was a disaster here. No thanks.

Gotta think he has some trade value(look at the ufa class), he hasn't been awful. But he is overpaid IMO.

I'd rather use it on Booth than not use it at all. Clear up the roster spot for a younger player, or if you plan on bringing back Santorelli(he can play wing as well).

- Nucker101

If you look at players that are signed for next year and the RFA's (Kassian and Tanev.) There is currently 1 roster spot available up front and that does not include Jensen.

If they resign Tanev the top 6 D roster spots are filled.

If they want a new look roster, Gillis is going to make some major trades this summer.

Edler will land more and will be more likely to waive his NTC.
- Chest Rockwell

If we only got slightly more for Edler then I would trade Garrison. If it was quite a bit more (which it should be) then I'd trade Edler.

Agreed, however who do we replace them with, Corrado, Weber AHLberts?
- Whiskey-Tango

Yes.

The top 4 will be Hamhuis, Bieksa, Tanev and Garrison/Edler. Stanton and one of those guys in the 3rd pairing.

I'd take Crawford back over many of the candidates on that list. He was the only responsible for developing the Sedins not AV. Trotting them out on every 2nd pp unit and gave them regular minutes when they surely were not earning them. AV came it at the right time in their development so he gets all the praise

One of Edler or Garrison have to go IMO.
- Nucker101

Edler traded and Garrison bought out. His chronic groin issues really plagued him this year. Can't risk another 4 years of that. Weber is as effective on the PP...

Do we really want Connolly + back for him though? Connolly seems like TB's Schroeder...

What a (frank)ing outstanding draft pick that was especially when you consider that Marcus Johansson and Kyle Palmieri went just after him. Schroeder will be lucky to be playing in Europe next year, if they re-sign him I'm going to lose my (frank)ing mind!

The hilarious thing is that people here are assuming that because he's from B.C. and he's big that he's a legit powerforward. I was reading this from a couple of TB fans at HF this season that watch him regularly in the AHL which went something like this

- Good speed/size
- Good shot
- Weak for his size, not good along the boards
- Not physical enough
- Rarely gets his nose dirty or stands up for teammates in scrums, etc.

The same people with hard-ons for him in Vancouver would turn on him within his first 20 game here.

Edler isn't a stud #1 d-man, but I'm not trading him for that.

I don't want Connolly.

I doubt Garrison and Edler are available. Edler should go and will retrieve a bounty. Garrison would have a big market too but he's not the problem with this team. Somebody has to play defense. I'd rather repace Weber with Weaver, who Garrison played so well with - they were Florida's shut-down pair when they made the playoffs, trade Edler and then if we're out by next January, deal Bieksa who will have a lot of value and 1 year left for a playoff team.

I want Gulutzan as our HC with the freedom to hire his own assistants.

Really? You want Gulutzan after what he did with this pp? They've sucked ever since Erhoff left and haven't had a qb since but man this year they were waaaay worse than the last couple.

The only reason I'd say keep Gulutzan is if the NHL puts in a new rule whereby the team with the coach with the most hair gets a bye. That way both the Canucks and Oilers get in with their parted hair and my main man Babych automatically becomes the wanted man.

Canucks should get Don Hay from the Giants. He keeps that team competitive and entertaining year in year out, while losing his best players every year. And he's obviously good at developing young talent.

Big difference, easier to get young people who aren't millionaires to buy-in.

He likes to play a more offensive style than Torts. He also let the young kids in Dallas play and develop and has done work with Kassian this year. Not to mention his excellent work in the AHL with the young Dallas players. I think he'd be a fine choice with a good PP coach as his assistant.

He should have NEVER BEEN IN CHARGE OF THE PP. That was delegated to him by a guy who didn't have any say in his hiring. Assuming Gulutzan is a bad head coach because he's not a PP strategist is moronic.

It also says something when the NHL club hires the head coach of their AHL affiliate when they have the HC job available with the big club.... as was the case with Gulutzan(until new management came in). TB hired Cooper. Toronto didn't hire Eakins. Look at how they've turned out. Cooper was one of the guys I wanted as well.

Makes me nervous but the dude has good hair. Paul Jerrard and Curt Fraser were his assistants.

Maybe we can get Fraser back and send him to Chicago for Tanti.

On a side note isn't it about time for a change in Nashville. Will they move Trotz into the front office or is there a chance Trotz could be available.
