So is writing about hockey, and Flyers in particular, you side gig, your hobby?

I was asked to contribute to a site. More a hobby than anything else

To be fair, it's still OK to question the direction of team. They've made a great recovery, but they still face a tough gauntlet for the rest of the season and don't have a spot locked up yet.

Best part of last nights game for me was my son saying flyers going to lose and all 3rd period me saying plenty of time left. Right until final minute. Nothing better than exploding in cheer when Vinny scored. Just happy didn't get the told ya so laugh.

All games are huge, but that Blue Jacket game on Thursday is vital. The Rags are in Colorado that night, so let's hope for the double bonus!

What do you guys think of the hit on toews last night? I didn't think it was dirty, but he didn't need to hit him full out. It is funny to me though that pens fans are perfectly ok with it but rinaldos hits are all cheap shots.

It was a clean hard hit. The result was unfortunate.

Agreed. Not dirty, but it was kind of blindside-ish and he could have let up. If I'm remembering right, it seemed like Toews didn't have the puck for a good 2 seconds before getting crunched.

EDIT: Certainly not something the game needs to "get rid of"

No, the puck was right there. You can see it pretty clearly in the gif. Even in slow motion its less that a second.

Yup you're right. I'm seeing it now.

It's not a bad hit.

Is Toews gonna miss any time? I've just seen the gif...hadn't heard anything otherwise.

I'm enjoying the stretch run, they've played as well as we could have hoped. That doesn't erase all the concerns I have, but rather than nitpick those, I'm enjoying the games and not getting worked up about it.

I thought he left his feet, but I can clearly see he didn't until making contact. It was a clean hit, but I'm sure the Hawks aren't too happy about it.

One day, someone is just going to crush Crosby in the head and the Pens will be the only ones wondering why it happened.

To be fair, I don't think there is any quesiton that this team is moving forward in the right direction. Other Coaches of top teams are praising the Flyers as a team.

I don't believe they've mentioned anything yet, but it didn't look good last night. His arm was hanging and they decided pretty quickly to go back to the dressing room. I hope he's ok.

If they can get 50% of the rest of the points on the table, they should be safe.

I'd love to see another run where they get 10-12 out of the 16 left.

Ah ok then very good.

At first I thought you meant it was ok to direction the question of the team like how they were trending in the big picture and what they're future's like or if they needed to blow up things etc etc....I was like mmmmmno

But I agree with all the quoted above

They have him listed day-to-day with an arm injury. They are saying it's not serious.

Yes.

Hell, it won't even be in the head. One game he will get hit cleanly like this Orpik hit, and all the "analysts" are going to be up in arms, as well as everyone in Pittsburgh.

And as long as it's clean, I'm ok with this.

Sounds like a shoulder then. Much rather that than the head, and I'm sure everyone would agree with me there.

Hopefully he's back in time for the playoffs. Boy would that suck for the Hawks

The more I watch it the less I like it. Looks like he gets him in the head and flares his arm out, not an elbow but unnecessary.

They were doing the same to the Maple Leafs in October. That's not a knock on the Flyers, they're playing exceptionally well, especially of late.

But even a great recovery and playoff berth doesn't mean all the ills are cured. Winning can mask flaws. The playoffs will reveal if they are fatal or not.
