He's an option to replace McGinn, who is also an AHL player.
But if Vinny and Bschenn ever end up on the same line again, Vinny should be the center. - Feanor
McGinn may/may not be more than an AHL/ short-term NHLer but his style is more of a fit right now than Akeson's. Flyers could have seven guys score 20 goals this season (five already there, and Lecavalier and B. Schenn are each two away). They need more of a board-work, down low style guy than what Akeson brings.

I dunno, is rather live in Nashville than Philly, and I'm a city boy.
Don't get me wrong here, Nashville isn't great. Tennessee also has no state income tax. PA has a 3.07% tax on income. Staying in Nashville saved him 4 million $. Not including all the other taxes etc.

It's quite simple the Flyers need a number one defender and have a log jam at center
Giroux
Vinny
B Schenn
Coots
Laughton
Cousins
Something has to give.
Braydn Schenn and Luke Schenn + for Shea Weber
Makes to much sense |

i hate nashville, you couldn't pay me to go there again. no thanks.
maybe he loves it and worries more about saving on taxes than winning somewhere. i do know he signed that offer sheet. |

I'm not a fan of Tennessee at all. I truly dislike that state. At the end of the day, hockey is a job to these guys. Nashville should have been a better team this year.

McGinn shouldn't be on the 2nd line either in my opinion. I don't think either is a long term option that you want for a playoff run.

I guess so. I just feel that BSchenn and Simmonds aren't particularly good passers, and that's what Akeson would add to the line. Passing and playmaking ability. |

Add Simmonds or Voracek and a 1st to that package and maybe Nashville considers it.
In other words, it's time to let the Weber fantasies go. |

Akeson would have to prove to me that he's an NHL player. I think if he was a player the Flyers thought could play a second line role, he would have gotten at least a call up by now. A player has to be able to do other things such as check, play physical along the wall, and not be a defensive liability out there. And if he's not going to bring any other attributes to the lineup, then he better be a dam good offensive point producer at the NHL level. And I have serious doubts about Akeson as far as that is concerned.

Weber will eventually demand a trade
Dudes not going to willow away his career in a non hockey market missing the playoffs every year. Dude signed the offer sheet and definitely wanted to go too a contender. |

saw on the locker room access part of the flyers site, he has been skating, berube says day to day, was asked whether that was due to injury or sharpness, berube said both |

McGinn was better today, but not sure if he is full time NHL ready. I do like that they can roll four lines. So what do they do with Vinny now? |

I love Rinaldo ... but I'm not sure I'm moving him off that 4th line.
give him another 3 or 4 minutes of ice time and you'll exponentially increase the chances of seeing the Bad Rinaldo.

So has it been confirmed it was a concussion? If so is that 2-3 he's had since joining the team. |
