A couple of things from being at the game...
1. I saw MJL posted that Giroux didn't have that good of a game today from being there I would disagree.
2. The person that had the heart attack was in section 112/113 which was directly across form where I was sitting..it was tough to watch..you could see them giving CPR
3. Mason needs to make the save on Chara and Bergeron. I realize that Chara has the longest reach of anyone in the league which helped with that goal but still.. That being said, Mason made some key saves throughout..
4. Rinaldo hammered Iginla.
5. Rask is so good.
6. Giroux had a ridiculous move in the shootout.
7. Voracek had Rask beat if he held another second on the shootout.
8. The D gave up way too many quality chances against a team like the Bruins. - opeth_pa
if you mean the team D I agree
there were a ton of plays were the third bruin in, either on the far wing or on the point were wide open, and Mase made most of those saves or the pass would just miss

What happened that makes you feel otherwise about Giroux?

A couple of things. Flyers are playing really good Hockey for the most part down the stretch. But there have been a number of plays where the Flyers are caught watching the puck in the defensive zone, and leaving players open. Happened today on the Meszaros goal. That has to be cleaned up
And secondly, it's hard to be critical because he's had a strong Season. But Giroux was not that good today. And he wasn't good against the Rangers or against LA. He has to be better against top teams if the Flyers are going to do anything. - MJL
says less about Giruoux who is phenomenal, and more about the D he was facing. |

about a dozen crazy-ass bounces in the last 30 seconds were required.

I missed this game because I thought I had it recording... but didn't. How did the Flyers manage to get 52 shots on goal and ALL of the highlights are Bruins except the 3 goals and the fight? Did the Flyers have a lot of high quality chances that Rask stopped or were the Flyers out there making Rash look good? |

It was in between periods.
They collapsed in the row and you knew it was serious because as soon as they got him into the hallway next to the seats they started CPR right away. - opeth_pa
I just went on a rant about DVRing the game and missing the end of it. I thought maybe the game went long, because of the guy having a heart attack, and that's why my recoding ended before the end of of the game. I'd kind of feel like a jerk if I was crying about missing the end of the game if it was because some poor guy was having a heart attack. |

I'm sure that's a factor. Giroux has had great games against top defense before.

Rask made a lot of good saves, but nothing highlight-reel worthy (maybe a couple that I can't remember). imo, he's the type of goalie who has such solid positioning that he seldom has to dive all over the place to make the save. |

that they did.
I'm just glad Vinny didn't clank that shot off the goalpost at the end of regulation. There would be a lot of hatred on here if he did.

So, I spent this cold and rainy weekend at my daughters dance competition in Lancaster. Stuck in a crappy hotel in Lancaster. Watching dance. In Lancaster. There was a bright shinning light at the end of the tunnel, tho...Flyers/Bruins waiting for me on DVR when we got home. Had it all setup. Checked to make sure I had it set to record NBC not CSN. Made sure to set it to extend the recording time an hour so I wouldn't miss anything if it goes to overtime. The dance competition ended, awards were given out (my daughter and her team did great) and we were on the road back to Philly by about 2:00. Got a text, all caps, from my son at around 3:00 asking if I was watching the game...so I figured something good must be happening. Got home at about 3:30 and settled in for a great game...love watching a game on DVR...skip the ads...skip the intermission...and it was a pretty great game...until 1 minute and 3 seconds left in the third when my recording ended! WTF! I set the damn thing for an extra hour! It didn't even make it to the end of regulation! - Dkos
Cable companies haven't figured out how to record sporting events yet. You have to record the show after the game to watch it without fail.
This is what happens when you have monopolies with cable providers. Crap service.

I think that goes to Flyerguy's point. Out cutting down the angle and well positioned, there's not much to shoot at.

Mason had no chance on the Chara goal. With his freakish reach, Chara gave himself a good shooting angle and then flipped it upstairs on the backhand. No goalie would have stopped it.

Akeson isn't an option. He's an AHL player. - MJL
He's an option to replace McGinn, who is also an AHL player.
But if Vinny and Bschenn ever end up on the same line again, Vinny should be the center. |

Bill, where would you play VL?
He clearly looks better at center.
At the same time I think it may be bad to keep moving BSchenn around.
Keep them both at center and roll 4 lines? |

Agreed..The Bergeron goal though he needs to do a better job on.
Giroux didn't dominate like he has recently but a lack of domination doesn't mean he played poorly. I forgot to add in my original post how physical Read played today, not sure if that translated to TV or not.
The thing on Rask is he never looks out of control and positionally is just so sound. Their are maybe 1 or 2 goalies I take before him right now. |
