This is my favorite response. It says "I don't like it, but I can't refute it"

Yup. Vinny is stud at center. Thats the only thing holding him back from being a legit top 6 player. His defensive miscues won't be exacerbated by playing a position that requires more all around play.
- PhillySportsGuy

If Vinny looks like his old self playing 4th line center tonight, Chief will have a tough decision to make.

No matter how you cut it, he's putting VL back at C, now it's up to VL to rise to the challenge and perform, or not.

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Couturier-Read
Raffl-Lecavlier-Downie
McGinn-Hall-Rinaldo

Give me these lines before Lecavlier is on the 4th line. Just an opinion.

That second line could work against the Leafs 1st line. Having Sean all over Kessel ..and Hartnell in JVR"s face. Leafs depend so much on their first line, it's a must to shut them down and frustrate them

Streit may decline physically, but you are not considering that with age comes wisdom.

Im sure he'll look better at center against 4th liners. I just want my 3 best centers playing center.

You have a point here. If Vinny and Briere and Giroux play better at Center then they do at wing, then you have to give at least a possibility that playing at wing could hamper Schenn as well.
- SchennBros

Right. The argument cuts both ways. I guess it really comes down to which player you think is going to be more valuable for the team in the future: Schenn or Vinny?

There is a chance Vinny could be the team's 5th best center by the end of next season.

I tend to agree. It's a bit of an overstatement to say that Vinny is a power forward.

That's good. Take any advantage you can get.

No doubt. If Vinny was getting it done, there's no question he'd be at center. We aren't privy to what happens behind the scenes, at practices, etc.

Happy to see Vinny back at center, even if it's on the 4th line for now.

It was almost as painful watching Vinny on the wing as it was Briere.

Yeah.. I guess he would help. He may look good with Sean. They could be very frustrating to play against.

Bill said he's asked berube about VL and Berube said he doesn't really know what to do with him. (I'm paraphrasing, but I believe it was pretty blunt).

That's ok, you can keep making fun of me. There are legit reasons I said its a possibility, and if you want to keep making sarcastic remakes whatever.

1. Buffalo is willing to move the pick, and said for more NHL ready prospects.
2. Draft is in Philly. I would shocked if there wasn't a big move. Last year in NJ, they got schneider. Year before in Pitt they traded Staal.
3. Flyers need a number 1 defenseman and may not be willing to trade current roster players now that they are showing what they are capable of for guys like Buff or Yandle.
4. Its been Noted the Homer has a Boner for Ekblad.

So this was just me putting a few things together. That's all.

I wouldn't go that far, just yet. There's no guarantee that Scott Laughton is going to make the roster next year.

Vinny's obviously not going to play ahead of G or Couturier.

My guess is that he is better at center, right now, than Brayden Schenn, but the organization has prioritized Schenn's development over Vinny's comfort. Which makes sense, really.

Right now, Vinny is VERY expensive injury insurance.

No need to be so sensitive.

If Ekblad was in last year's draft, he would of most likely of went right around Morin.

I also think calling him a "finesse player" wasn't exactly fair, either.

He has bite to his game when it's needed.

1. Any team is willing to move anything for the right price. Buffalo saying they'd move the pick, doesn't mean they don't like Ekblad, it means they want to see what people would give up for the pick.

2. Staal had to be moved or risk losing him for nothing.

3. There is nothing close to a guarantee that Ekblad will become a top pairing defenseman, let alone, a true #1 defenseman. Even if he does, it will take several years. I don't see the Flyers trading current assets for a guy who may help them a lot in 5-7 years. Thats not really the Snider way.

4. Where is your source for Homer's Ekblad hard on?

Imagine how many times the person responsible for the Art Ross Akeson jokes has had to endure that one, lol. Some stupid stuff gets enshrined around here, that's for sure.

Freakin' love it.

If McGinn-Schenn-Simmonds can channel Hartsy-Schenn-Simmonds, that 2nd-line won't be such a liability anymore.

- Tomahawk

This is where I am -- I like Vinny and I think he can still play, but this is a results-oriented business.

It's not always "fair," because it's hard to say how much the back injury affected him.

But no line can be a liability right now. These guys are human, not robots -- it's unfair to expect them to play well every single shift, every single game.

But you can't be a liability, where people realize that not only are you unlikely to score, but you're not able to defend well, nor are you able to possess the puck well and create offensive pressure and chances, as a second line.

So. I wish Vinny was playing better so the hate wouldn't flow as freely...but at the same time, the Flyers can't be effing around tonight.
