I think he had one, that was a little dicey. Other then that, he was fine. - MJL
I don't feel like going 12 rounds tonight.
Im out. Good win. Not a perfect game, but the two points were much needed. Flyers need to catch their second wind before playing Boston. Bruins are playing as well as anyone in hockey right now. |

Meh I disagree.
Schenn was his normal self- not good, not great, but not bad. We all know he's streaky. He had a chance to bury one tonight but flubbed it.
As far as Simmer goes...I think it's sort of silly to say he wasn't effective tonight. He was hustling his tail off like normal, was a tank on the boards, and put the puck in the net for the kill shot. Seems like he's effective game in and game out. - Giroux_Is_God
They all pretty much played better in the third, but TBH, Baby Schenn was pretty much invisible tonight
Simmonds was much more noticeable in the third -- and thankfully so, because we needed it. But he was not good before that

There's a reason why that line got the least amount of icetime of any line. They weren't very good overall as a line. Regardless of the goal on a gift giveaway. But kudos to Simmonds on burying it.

But at this point I feel like the best thing to do would be to buy him out... Sure youll look foolish (Again), but he cant play wing and if Schenn is back next year then he will not move off of that 2C. And Lecavalier wont play 4C. - justahockeyguy2
And no one will ever want to trade for Lecavalier with the cap hit he brings.. unless you are the Edmonton Oilers
I wish you could just restructure contracts like in the NFL. |

But on a serious note, what the hell are the Flyers going to do with Laughton come next year? There is going to be a serious log jam at C.. and I know Lecavalier is not going to play 2C, if they plan on keeping Schenn there. - justahockeyguy2
I think they will break in Laughton slowly and bring him along on the 4th line. I would say the odd man out is going to be Vinny, but nothing is set in stone.

Buying him out is not the best thing to do with the what it would cost them on the Cap.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday. Play the best in the conference and see where you stand.

Sounds like we're not on the same page. I was talking about the individuals. You're talking about the line.
Regarding the entire 2nd line, no they weren't very effective. I really attribute that to McGinn. I think he's been horrendous these last few games.
I know it's almost a joke at this point, but I think it's time for Akeson to get slotted into that 2nd line winger spot. He can be the hands guy, Simmer the hard worker on the boards, and Schenn is the "in between", more well rounded offensive player. Not exactly a unit that's gonna be responsible in their own end, but they aren't when Vinny's on that line either.
Can't be worse than what McGinn brings at this point. |

Agreed -- they can't buy that guy out. And again: Tonight is only one night. But one center stepped forward and played really well, and one center did, well, not much of anything tonight
Again: It's only one night. But if they drew lineups based on how you played the night before, Vinny would be the No. 2 center on Sunday -- and that is without qeustion

agreed. i think he's improved post-olympics. he seems quicker, stronger, moving the puck better, and has a bit of nasty back in his game. it's very nice to see. |

I don't see Akeson being the answer either. But you never know.

Exactly- can't be any worse, and who knows...I feel like he could compliment a guy like Simmer well, who's so strong with the puck on the boards |

Come playoff time i look for him to go beast mode, one thing i've always loved about the guy is that he usually steps it up in the playoffs and they're gonna need him too if they wanna go anywhere. |

I think the Flyers already have the player to make the 2nd line better.

Right. You think it's Vinny. I don't know...I don't think Schenn should be moved to the wing. |
