This is only the beginning too. Reporters are all saying theres going to be more to come out. It appears many of them have some knowledge they aren't allowed to share.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah, I'm really starting to get the feeling they cut him just in the nick of time. Even with his contract, someone would normally give up a late pick for a guy with his talent. There is definitely more to this story than has been reported so far.

Thats if he doesnt want to go back to school for his senior year. I think he still has 1 year left if he wants too stay. If he doesnt sign a few days after the championship that means he will be a free agent.

Lets hope so, because so far all I just hear/see is speculation about him being associated with the wrong crowd, nothing that he's actually done himself. Flashing gang signs isn't enough.

Exactly. A talent like Desean gets you a 2nd round pick easy. Theres gotta be more to the story than Desean having some bad friends.

What did he say before? "no one is going to touch this guy!"

4 Teams contact his agent.

"Well maybe a few teams will contact him"

- PhillySportsGuy

no i mean spending weeks saying the eagles need to look the other way because of his talent... now basically ripping him like crazy

personally i dont care about the move, but the flip flopping going on is insane

Agreed -- as irritating as Jackson is, they wouldn't have cut bait if they didn't have a feel how deep the rabbit hole truly was

They know something, or heard something, that scared them poopless

Would you really expect anything else from WIP? I don't know how you can listen to that station.

I felt the same way though. I thought they were going to cut or trade him because he was like a TO. Just obnoxious. I thought they should have tried to work things out this season then traded him next offseason.

If he really is connected to gangs, I don't see how you can keep him. The fact that current players aren't upset about the move makes me think he's a bad person.

You don't think it rises to the level of "enough" to have a guy who was acquitted of murder on your record label?

I do. There is just too much smoke coming out (and I'm not talkin bout Snoop Dogg) for there not to be a fire.

Yea. You mix all that stuff in with his house being robbed and having hundreds of thousands of dollars stolen.

It just sucks because now they need to pursue a WR in the first or 2nd round of the draft. They still have a major need at pass rushing OLB and safety.

You can usually get a good safety in the middle rounds so hopefully the first 2 picks go to OLB and WR

Thats what I'm assuming. Its a good draft for WRs and there should be some good pass rushers in the 1st and 2nd round.

That's a bad way to look at it. By your argument, he's as good as Tim Kerr is right now (proven player, effective for the Flyers before injuries).
- jmatchett383

Using a player who has been retired for years, is not comparable to the situation with Lecavalier.

wow straight out release huh? Even with that ridiculous contract, I thought someone would at least give up a 5th or 6th for him.
- BiggE

well if every sports writer in the tri state area didn't report they would release him maybe they get something. thanks a lot, fellas

Exactly -- as you said, there are numerous folks who are convinced there are a ton of WRs in this draft.

Again: We'll miss some of those big plays. But they didn't exactly cut Jerry Rice circa 1985, you know?

WRs are replaceable -- they just are

Of course they do but when someone is associated with the Crips in LA and throwing up gang signs during games, they have to go. Especially after the Aaron Hernandez incident.
- keatondixon

I'll tell you what, if this is true, I might start watching the eagles again. I was very frustrated with the Vick signing. He is a criminal and did not deserve another shot. Then there was the guy that shot himslef in the leg that they tried to get.

Now that Vick is gone, and now Jackson, maybe Chip Kelly is building a team around moral players. This will be a good thing.

So...I just won a free zamboni ride for next season.

First my wife wins the Giroux jersey off the backs last year, now this. I'm thinking of buying some 50/50's tonight.

He was acquitted, doesn't mean he did anything, maybe he has a couple of bad friends but if he's never actually done anything himself then that's not enough for me. There has to be more to this.

You're a good person to believe that, and really, that's the way it should work.

But in my world, "acquitted" sometimes means "not enough evidence," not that "you didn't do it."

You have to look at it like the Eagles maybe did: What are the odds that you won't wake up one day and not see the headline, "Jackson associate indicted for murder" or "Jackson subject of homicide probe"

If the answer to that isn't "zero odds," then you're at risk of getting cut

- jmatchett383

Simon Gagne has not been an effective player for a number of years, compared to Lecavalier. And the fact that no team is interested in Gagne at any point this Season, is also telling.

It much easier if a distinct point was made. Are you implying that Lecavalier is done as a player?
