Nope. That said, the best player in a weak draft class doesn't equate to another player in a similarly weak class.
Patrick Kane was a player who's probably a top-3 in most draft years.
Aaron Ekblad wouldn't have cracked the top-5 last year. - jmatchett383
last year was likely the Deepest top 10 in the history of the NHL draft. Not a fair comparison. Ekblad is a top 3 pick in most NHL drafts. |

It's not even close. Go look at 2003. It's one of only 2 drafts where every first rounder played at least one NHL game. It's maybe the deepest draft since 2009. Maybe.
And we're just going to disagree about him being a top-3 in most drafts. He probably would be the 3rd/4th best defenseman taken in 2008, the draft where picks 2-5 were defensemen.
Have you actually watched him with any sort of regularity? I have, and he's shown some promise for sure, but he hasn't looked anything like Weber/Doughty did when they were in juniors. Definitely not the guy to gut your prospect pool for. |

I said deepest top 10. Not deepest 1st round. Only time will tell, but I believe that is absolutely true... I mean Nichushkin was taken 10th. He is a top overall pick the year before or this year. |

I'm not a big interweb guy much anymore. I dont do facebook or twitter. And I only post in 1 other forum but its not like this one where people reply right away, so I dont go in there anymore. Its just something I like to do now before I go to work. Just got a new job with National Park Service doing overnight security. I'm pretty much home alone all day with nothing to do... You guys have become by suedo family.

Deepest 10...I don't know. I think some of the picks (Barkov/Horvat) were reaches. But even look at 2011 (again, Strome was a reach), and 2003. Solid top-10s full of All Stars. But, if you really want to look at the best top-10 ever, 1981 is the clear-cut winner, although 1979 is pretty good too. |

Barkov was definately not a reach. Horvat I will give you because Vancouver wanted a center. |

Turkey, Egypt, and Morroco are the Cradle of Life. This area is critical in the evolution of humans. This area is the first place groups of humans stopped being nomadic, and developed civilizations. They are deep in history, and to any historian going to these places is almost a religious experience.

i think lidstrom is a more accurate comparison. |
