12-14-0 (11 ROW) against the top-11 5V5 teams in the league... that includes some one-sided losses to the Sharks, 'Hawks and Bruins. Not bad, considering that the Flyers are a mediocre 5V5 team themselves, but still sub-500. Rangers are #6. Flyers #25. - Tomahawk

Is being the first one voted off Dancing with the Stars more embarrassing than sleeping with your wife's Sister?

your correct in the sense that the system the Rag's play is tough for the Flyers, but it definately can be beat....and the Flyers can be successful.....the Flyers need to stick to their own game plan which is to fore-check and be physical....they have not done it consistantly the last two games and the results are what they are. They need to stick to the program....I thought they were the better of the two teams for most of the first period but they had a lull and it costs them.....It reminds me of the devils games against philly.....Hard work beats any system.
Berube could also do a better job with mixing up his top combo's to get Giroux some space, but it really falls on Claude's shoulders to be more focused an smart with his decisions.
The Rangers played very well last night, but its not like they bring that game every night. - landros 2
IMO this isnt so much of Flyers not playing thier game consistantly as much as the Flyers game plan falls right into the Rangers hands. Its like football team that runs the ball above average contining to run the ball against the best Run defense.... Some systems are just set up to stifle a specific system. IMO the Flyers can Hang with the Ranger. But if they are going to win, it will be on Special Teams and match-ups. Last night they didnt get any help from the refs. It wont always be that way. |

I dont care what you say.... That was a good play. No reason that shouldnt be allowed. if you can park your body infront of a goalie to screen him, why cant you block his vision with your stick... Just the NHL getting involved because of Marty. |

You can say that about any team playing against any other team. Of course if they do ALL those things perfectly they can win. But the System the Rangers play is very stifiling to the Flyers. They clog the lanes, block shots, and win board battles. If they do manage to get a shot on net, then they have to battle the 2nd best goalie in the league.
The Flyers system just isnt set up to beat them. Now the penguins play more of a style to beat them. They play more off transitions, and odd man rushes, where the Flyers generate plays by board battles and in zone passing... which NYR defends almost perfectly. - SchennBros
Last night's game, and the Flyers lack of success against the Rangers has zero to do with the system that the Rangers play. The Rangers system is not diferent then the system that a lot of teams play. Hockey games never come down to systems. Systems can't win Hockey games.
The St. Louis Blues are a much better team then the Rangers, and play a similar style to the Rangers. The Flyers outplayed them and beat them 4-1. |

Pretty much says that the Flyers are competitive against those teams as a whole. |

Tell that to the Devils in the 90's-00's.
The Rangers system is different in the fact behind that defense that clogs lanes and blocks shots is the 2nd best goalie in the league. That is what makes the difference. |

Pretty much says they lose more often then not agaisnt teams that are better 5-on-5. And that they Flyers are not a good 5-on-5 team...
Which reinforces my opinion that if they are going to win games against the Rangers it will be with special teams and match-ups. |

With out the players executing the system, a system is worhtless. No system wins a game. Without Brodeur, Stevens, Neidermayer, and others, the system wouldn't have meant squat. Any system can be beaten.
If what you're saying is true, then the Flyers can't beat the Rangers. And that is false. |
