Well we disagree on that, then. I have no doubts that the Flyers can beat the Rangers in a 7 game series. I don't know why one game outweighs another.
- MJL

I view each series as a probability. Every team is capable of beating the other in a 7 game series. I just look at the probability of it happening. Right now, I feel the probability of beating the Rangers is below 50%. I wish I had your confidence.

I just saw the slash right now (I didn't watch the third). THAT is what everyone's worked up about? I figured Simmonds reeled off a 2-handed baseball swing at McDonagh the way it's being talked about. It was a hard slash, yes. Was it a horrible, mindless neanderthal attack warranting a suspension? Not at all.

- jmatchett383

I know. Slashes like that happen in every game.

I tend to agree. I don't think it's impossible. But IF I were a betting man, I'm taking the Rags in 7 games.

Home ice would be a huge factor in that series, IMO.

I was told by a Turkish woman (my buddies wife) that you shouldn't go out alone in turkey as an American. She warned of even going there when I went on my trip overseas.
- Flyersgod

As a woman, I would feel uncomfortable going out alone in quite a few places in the world, Turkey being one of them. And yet I have another friend, an opera singer, who has been there often and alone without any issues.

49 I believe, if you include Hagg. All of Morin, Laughton, Leier, and Stolarz are on the slide rule. Capgeek has Hagg on the slide rule as well since he's on an ATO (ELC starts next year).
- jmatchett383

Hagg's on an AHL ATO right now, his deal won't kick in until next season, so they're still at 48. Folin-time!

With Hagg, they're at 31 for 2014-15, with Morin/Leier/Stolarz able to slide again.

We all know the Flyers can beat the Rangers in a 7 game series, but is it likely? I think its more of a toss up. Maybe it does come down to home ice advantage... It does seem like the coach that can get his matchups have a clear advantage.

The Flyers just recently beat teams that are better then the Rangers are. If the Flyers play the way they did against the Blues, and Penguins, they can beat the Rangers. If they play the way they did last night, probably not.

all spot on, bill...but....

maybe it's just me being a goalie, but it seems sometimes that even if you don't directly blame our goalies, you're still kind of blaming them when they don't make saves they have little chance of making - while ignoring the play that put them in position in the first place - or at least not pinpointing what happened.

to begin describing mason's game last night you said he wasn't awful. that first sentence, imho, says he wasn't the solution and he wasn't the problem. i thought he was much, much better than that. probably their best player all night. he controlled his rebounds extremely well, handled the puck well, and made some excellent stops. he wasn't at fault for either of the first two goals- which came off of an unforced kimo turnover on the wall and their inability to clear the zone respectively. the last one, while looking terrible, was tipped and he looked partially screened. all it takes is the slightest redirection and it can end up in the net. had he been positioned a mere foot further out, he would have been able to coral the puck, but didn't. the goal was irrelevant anyway.

even after getting the goal, with a 2 man advantage and time winding down they were STILL looking for the perfect play and got virtually nothing on net, despite all the frenetic scrambling in the zone. they were not getting any of the puck luck they had against LA in the 3rd. only way they were going to score was a perfect shot, like jake's, or to get nasty in front, which they rarely did.

sorry to pick nits. i'm still irritated.

Whether it is this playoff Season or any in the future. Players like Giroux, and Voracek are going to have to be productive against top defensive pairings. if Giroux is the player many, myself included think he is, then he'll find away. If not then maybe the Hart trophy talk is premature.

"Were not trolling. We just want to talk about your dirty team, lack of cups and how much you suck"
- PhillySportsGuy

whenever i hear that, i just say the flyers have more cups than the rangers do since their introduction to the league in 1967. 4 cups in almost 100 years of existence, many of of which were in a 6 or 12 team league is nothing to brag about, last night's game, current standings, and recent msg streak withstanding. and the last one was 20 years ago. the flyers have inflicted plenty of damage to the rangers over the years. in the regular season, and otherwise. the last 2 times they met, the flyers beat them, the first dethroned the rangers and the next prevented them from getting to the final, ushering them into a very long, dark non-playoff stretch of several years. they can go (frank) themselves.

I disagree that it's a matchup thing. If the Flyers play the way they're capable of, they can beat the Rangers. Saying it's a matchup thing indicates the Flyers can't beat them in a 7 game Season. What I saw last night was two blueshirts to one Flyers on the puck all night. I saw turnovers and bad coverage. I saw a wide gap between forwards and defenseman. I saw lost puck battles. That's why they lost last night. Not because of a matchup.

I think your assessment is fair. The third goal was very weak, but the game was decided long before that. When playing the Rangers, it's unrealistic to expect Mason to match Lundqvist, he's just not as good. Certainly no shame in that. In order to beat the Rangers the Flyers are going to have to be the better team, not necessarily have the better goaltender.

I think it is important to not advertise you are American. There are frindge groups in Turkey, anti-american. But guess what, if you dont advertse your American, then you could be English, French, Italian, German, African... whatever.

Its just the same as going to Brazil or Morocco or Egypt... Just keep a low key. Dont walk around with a fanny pack, and your Eagles jersey, with your Obama pin and you wont give off any flags... Actually you might want to put on a manchester united shirt, shave your head, and wear an Anarchy pin....

if the puck had changed direction enough to tick in off the post and never touch mason or redirect through the 5 hole would anyone say it was weak? no. a tip is a tip, and the body has gaps. it looks bad because it dribbled in over the line and he couldn't reach it. it's just my POV. i thought the turnover on the wall that lead to the goal was far worse.

i think mason can match csp save for save. last night he couldn't. but that's not why they lost.
