He's a definite true #1 guy, I'll give you that. But he's a step down from "elite" in my opinion, and I really like him.

Folin rates, at least from most of the college guys I follow, as a 4/5 guy. He's not going to replace Timonen. I doubt that Alt or Gostisbehere could, either.

I just don't think they should trade any of the forwards right now. Not saying that's forever. Just saying that all of them have earned the right to continue developing, IMO, and that opening holes up in the forward ranks...I just don't think it's worth it, right now...and I'm as aggressive as they come

I'd give Ghost an outside shot. Folin and Alt would just provide great two way depth.

I'm going to go out on a limb right now, and say none of those players can replace Timonen. It would be great to add one to a lower pair. But none of them are going to be able to take on Timonen's role and responsibilities.

Probably not right away, at least. And I'm okay with that. Like you said, if the right deal for a proven top-pair guy appears, then I'm all for it. But if it's a case of patience, I'm okay with that as well.

I agree. If Timonen decides to play another year, I'd sign him in a heartbeat. If not, I'd look at guys like Boyle or even MArkov on short term deals to bridge the gap, and work in the Alt/Gostisbehere/Morin guys at the bottom.

doubt it will happen, but if Kimmo doesn't come back, I'd like to see Gus get a firm grip on a roster spot. assuming he's here.
