If part of a team coming back is they'll only work here if they win, won't entice the league or potential owners.
- mr.peanut

I never said that.

I said a legitimate chance to compete, meaning a management team that actually wants to win. Team could be a losing one but with good intentions and people would watch it. Living on hope.

In other words: Not a Jeffrey (frank)ing Loria.

Well if you don't want another Loria there better be a dedicated owner who is willing to buy a team in tough times.

But a team drawing less than 5000 doesn't make the market look good though?

Anyways prior to '94 they were drawing sub 20,000 avg attendance in some seasons.

Who drew less than 5000?

Meh, an outdoor stadium would help a bunch. The Big Owe was a terrible place to watch a game. The atmosphere was brutal.

Yet that season they still averaged over 10000. That's like saying Eller is a 4G/gm guy.

It makes sense, but other small markets survived the dip.

Which was helped by games that they played big name teams which pulled up attendance.

I'm not saying people didn't abandon the team, they did, we did.

But I think they had very good reasons to, and i'm confident they'd come back if they had a team with legitimate chances to compete to cheer for.

Oh. It would be really mean of baseball to make the new Expos only play against poorer drawing teams.

No we all know that Expos the Next Generation will be in the AL East and all the games against the Sox, Yankees and Jays will be played in Montreal.

It would be very silly of baseball to put the Expos into the same division as their closest geographic rivals.

of course after the 3rd year and all the welcome home feelings are gone and they're a struggling expansion team...

Apology accepted. The thing is, to blame their leaving on the lack of fan support is irresponsible at best. Show me pictures of empty stadiums and post statistics of attendance figures and that tells a very small part of the story. Montreal has a very rich baseball history going back to before Jackie Robinson. Now, I agree that bringing another team there is next to impossible, and I would be shocked if it happens. My point is - the fans are not to blame.
