They've gone from being that train wreck you can't look away from to being that train wreck you can't even look at because it's so gory. Lots of people getting fired there I would think.

Yea eh, and the 2nd round pick. 2nd round pick could've score more than Clarkson for 10x less money too. lol

I'll tell you BL, I didn't at the time, nor do I now, lose sleep over getting Kessel. I have no problem with him at all. I also think that waste of a pick on Schenn was cleverly fixed with adding that pud JvR.
- weirdoh

Schenn feels sorry for Leafs too.

Yet without looking you have no clue who that 2nd round pick was. Funny how that works.

I'm gonna say it now. We're done with the snow. Well, substantial snow anyway.

I know it was Jared Knight. Former linemate of Kadri in London Knights.

So you get elite offence and point production when you could have had similar or slightly lower production and used the other picks to select pieces that are now lacking on defense. How this can be deemed successful is beyond me.

Who knows what would have been drafted that 2nd year? Would Hamilton have been a guarantee? How can you even tell that? What if he traded that pick away in another deal? Would that be the next tangent on ifs and buts that is brought up?

Burke thought they were closer to contending than they were rebuilding. They got a young 20s sniper who has put up consistently good numbers. It's not hard to see why it can be viewed as a positive. They never expected the picks to be as high as they were.

It was a poopty trade, they gave up too much, but its justifiable in burkes twisted reality.

Strictly speaking from the players selected with the pick. The position or players available would not have changed because it was Toronto picking and not Boston. Perhaps the selections would have been different but the point is, the available talent at that point would have been available or perhaps the picks could have been used in a trade to address other issues on the team.

You guys lost Steen, Stajan, Tlusty, Colaiacovo, Schenn, Hamilton, Seguin and Rask taking shortcuts. Now, Leafs fans are talking about trading Reilly because he control the puck instead of passing. lol
