If everyone says Bozak is awful....and he's actually pretty good. Does that not make him underrated?

Absolutely he is. He's the whipping boy for mouth-breathing Leaf fans the world over, and yet, he plays the toughest minutes in hockey, with a terrible partner, and is still one of the best defenseman in the NHL. He is the PP QB, the offensive defenseman, the defensive defenseman, he plays in every situation, and he plays well.

If he is every partnered with a peer on a well coached team you are going to see him win a Norris Trophy.

I believe the chances may be greater than what we think as we are the currently the only ones that can offer him an 8 year contract

or if we trade him before free agency - the new team can offer him 8

Vanek has made over 50 Million dollars in his career so far. He's 30 years old....do you really think it will make the difference in where he signs if it's 8 years or 7?

I'd guess he choices would be based in order.
1. Where he wants to live.
2. Average Salary.
3 Contending team.

Actually, I would be fine with a 3years/9M$. Gotta say, since being on the 3rd with Brière, he has played his best hockey of the last 2 years. Never thought i would say this one day...

ok well he willingly lived in Buffalo so Montreal is no problem. Montreal will offer him the highest salary and we are so obviously a bona fide Stanley Cup contender that it's all but a sure thing he signs here. haha i said bone

Considering Snow and Reghier were both willing to sign him to a huge extension, i think you can switch #1 and 3 and it's pretty accurate.

I know you are kidding..but.

In Vanek's defense...he didn't have much of a choice but to live in Buffalo.

Montreal could very well offer him the highest salary...but they also have the highest taxes.

The Leafs and Jets will BOTH win a cup before the Habs do. That's right.....I said it.

The October cup.

Else... they would need to make the series to have a chance at Lord Stanley

Yup he turned them down because he clearly stated he wants to play for a contender, that's why i believe #1 should be playing for a contender.

The fact they are 10th in the conference kind of shows that their defence is inadequate.

Or that Phaneuf fails at his assignment.
