Exactly, because all the losses the last 5 years have really paid dividends.
- PLindbergh31

They've been a mediocre team for 10 straight years. This is a generational draft. They will have 3 rookies next year who project as starters in the future.

I don't really follow basketball very closely. Assuming the Sixers pick 1st or 2nd in the draft, is there a franchise player or 2 available that can turn them around?
- BiggE

Yes. Wiggins, Parker and Embiid all project as high end talents.

Edit: The Sixers have New Orleans first round pick as well (Its top 5 protected). New Orleans is likely to finish with their pick between 5-10 assuming they don't win the lottery.

There is a good chance the Sixers end up with a top 3 pick and top 10 pick in a VERY strong draft.

The flyers are playing great right now. The macdonald pick up has seemed to stabilize the defense and they are really clicking as a team. Can't wait for the game tonight!

And what if two of the 3 return to college for their sophomore seasons, and the Bucks get the # 1 pick.

If they do a Carter tribute, it might delay the 365th Broad St Bullies tribute scheduled for this week.

there's a statue unveiling of joe kadlec next. long, long overdue.

How often do top 3 picks go back to school?

Anything is possible. Parker already said he might return. Embiid has a back injury, and Wiggins embarrassed himself yesterday. None of these guys are immediate impact players at the NBA level.

Sixers loss number 25 in a row upcoming tonight in San Antonio. Does anyone remember the last pro team in Philadelphia to win 25 games in a row?

I love the comments from the coach after the last loss. "it's not about wins and losses" Perhaps they should stop keeping score of the games. Have a running clock, put mats down in between quarters for nap and snack time.

- PLindbergh31

maybe they'll tie the 80 flyers at 35.

Typical forecasting techniques. Assuming what happened yesterday will happen today is a naïve forecast. Its the least sophisticated and typically the most inaccurate of models.
- JFlyers00

The cap has been in effect since 2005. With the exception of artifically lowering the Cap coming out of the last lockout, what has happened every year? Seems like a pretty accurate prognostication to me.

If MacDonald reaches UFA status how many offers north of 5 million do you think he's going to receive?
- PLindbergh31

Well, seeing as he'll likely be the 2nd/3rd most sought-after UFA defenseman after Niskanen (who will be getting offers of $7M, long-term), I'd say...every single team looking to acquire a top-4 defenseman.

But I'm only looking at it in terms of cap space per team.

Canadian TV deal is paid out in Canadian dollars, too... so there's that to consider.

Thats emotion talking. Give them each a few weeks to think about the tens of millions they stand to lose out on if they return to school and suffer a career ending injury. I'd be shocked if they don't enter the draft this year, especially if they are the likely top 3 picks.

What was the longest winning streak that year? I know the unbeaten streak was 35, but there were some ties mixed in.

The streak was 25-0-10. I went to pretty much every home game that year, but man that was a long time and a lot of scotches ago. I don't think they ever actually won more than 8 or 9 in a row at any point that year.

There is no such thing as an immediate impact player in the NBA. The Cavs were terrible in Lebrons first year.

Players always say they want to stay then don't. Do you really think these kids are going to give up millions in order to stay an extra year to go to classes? Lets get real here.

Wiggins averaged 30 points per game in the last 4 games of the regular season/conference tournament. He's a 19 year old who had a difficult time beating a zone. (His teammates didn't offer much help).

Embiid is a top 3 pick now. If he stays another year and can't play due to a back injury, he will have lost his chance at millions of dollars.

These guys are as good as gone.

I don't follow basketball at all. How many of these are guys that can turn the franchise into a contender all by themselves (a.k.a. LeBron, Kobe, etc.) They all seem like the next John Wall.
