according to Brooks, apparently Brian Boyle approached the Rangers about a contract extension and they told him wait to the summer pal.

So we will play the game of possibly losing a player due to inability to negotiate during the season. We saw this play out with several others, would have hoped the Callahan negotiations might spur a difference course of action.

He's gonna get a similar type of deal Prust got. If the Rangers plan on keeping Richards, they can't afford to pay a 4th line center north of 2 million dollars. Lindberg would have to assume that role.

Miller, Lindberg, Haggerty, Fast, Kristo...

These guys are definitely competing for spots next year and we need guys that will make low money

hey competing for jobs in training camp doesn't mean you get one, Fast won a job and didn't stick, Kreider was sent back at first

Don't understand why people want to resign Boyle. His only strength is he is somewhat responsible defensively. Skates like a new born giraffe, gets knocked on the ice by the slightest physical contact, cant fight worth a damn. Give me a younger, quicker, and defensively minded forward in our system any day of the week.

His skating now compared to when he arrived is so much better. Not good, but better. He good on draws and on the pk. But we can't pay him north of what he's making now. Especially if Slats decide to try and milk out one more season of the potential of Richards and MSL chemistry.

I think I am on the fence about it.

If Boyle was signed for 2 million a year I would probably be fine with it, but look at that crazy contract Edmonton gave Boyd Gordon last year, somebody will give Boyle that has loads of cap space

True his skating is better, but I don't think he is worth the money( if he is looking for a raise). I don't think he brings anything to the team that cant easily be replaced by someone younger in our system, for cheaper. And as far as the draws, hasn't Moore been taking most of them this year?

I thought they couldn't buy out richards because he was producing and leading our red hot pp but both have cooled and he looks like shiit now. I think he's a goner.

So Boyle is basically the new Blair Betts, without the lightning speed..

He's not as mean as lucic but his size is still crucial on a team with dwarfs like zucc, msl, hagelin, etc.

Not to mention our fourth line has never looked better. I wouldn't mess with it and I'd be okay with bringing them all back.

I definitely would rather bring our guys back then sign other guys from other teams again that is for sure.

Either sign our pending UFA's or give the spots to the young guys, I'd rather not see a complete changeover once again

But the thing is, he doesn't use the size. Count how many times in a game he gets knocked off the puck, or down to the ice by a player much smaller. Zucc & Hagelin are stronger on the puck. I just don't see the benefits for the money he is going to ask for.

That's what I would like to see. No more signings of free agent 4th liners. Management sucks at that.

He doesn't use guys size meanly but he hardly ever gets knocked off the puck and hes great along the boards. He hardly ever loses a battle.

Again, I think he's been great the second half of the season but I certainly agree that the issues you brought up were noticeable earlier this season.

Idk, they signed arguably the most skilled 4th liner in the league in brad richards

... I will agree to disagree about Boyle though. I see him lose puck battles on the boards a lot of the time.

He can get an extension just not in NY pass, I'd rather get a big man that plays like a big man, there are plenty of players in the league that can replace him and produce a bit more

At 6'7" you shouldn't be tossed like a rag doll by so many, I can understand Chara to a point but he's still 6'7", sorry but I'm not keeping him for the sake of the fact that we let a lot of that team from 2 years ago leave , he should have been sacrificed before many of those players

I'm with you 100% on this one Cranny. He is easily replaceable. I personally don't think he is worth the money now, no way he deserves a raise. Give one of our younger guys a shot next year.

Edit: Watch he scores a hat trick tonight & makes me look like a d1ck.

If Zuccarello had Boyle's 6' 7" body, we'd have one of the top 10 players in the league, lol
