Few quick things as this thread is long.

McD: absolute stud, my wife hates the man crush I have on him but after last night she admitted that she really like him too.

Hags: love the speed and desire and puck pursuit.

Krieder: Thought on post game last night it was mentioned that CK was limited time wise because of his linemates not playing and AV's unwillingness to change up his other lines to accommodate him as basically the 10th foward.

DET: definitely want to keep the separation from 4th in the division so go Detroit.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this cuz this thread is so long lol. I find it funny how no analysts or reports even mentioned Hagelin's name in last nights game. It was Hag's gritty boardwork and great passing that found McDonagh and Girardi on the points that led to each goal that tied and won the game for us. Not to mention his shot that Richards deflected which gave the team legs and a will to start battling. Can't believe how overlooked he was, I thought he deserved 2nd Star for basically creating the plays that led to 3 key goals.

Micheletti gave him a lot of credit in the the 2nd period and really throughout

definitely agree

he is another one too just looking at next year. He can do so much and his cap hit at 2.25 million is gonna be huge for us with how tight things will be cap wise next year.

People shouldn't be so quick to throw his name in trade rumors trying to get the next superstar in here.

- jimbro83

His work ethic never stops. I dogged him when he had a bazillion scoring chances in Minny but he's come back from that game looking very good. He's the perfect 3rd liner. And for 2.25 million you can't beat that.

Thats true, Micheletti did say he was having a great game. It just seems like almost a snub that he didn't get a star for 3 assists that could be considered primary ones (i know the 2nd 2 weren't) and no real mention in the hockey world today.

Lol, just makes me question these so called "analysts" and the subtle things in the actual game they seem to not understand.

As you guys know, I've watched Hagelin for a long time, even before he became a pro. I was convinced, even as a 6th round draft pick, that he would be a good pro based on what I saw at Michigan. We all know what he does well, and I think there is a huge benefit to having a guy like Hagelin on the team. Where we may get into trouble with him a little, is creating expectations for him that he is not capable of meeting. I don't ever see Carl Hagelin as a 30 goal guy. He doesn't have the hands for it, and he doesn't play on the PP, which is obviously an inhibiting factor to putting up huge goal numbers.

Hags is a great energy guy that can chip in about 20 goals a year. Great penalty killer, IMO (Torts should have used him more there), can create the threat of the short handed goal, always a guy that you can depend to get in on the forecheck, and just an overall dependable player. He will score some goals in bunches, and then go quiet for some games. I think we just need to appreciate him for what he is, which is a very important player.

Didn't the Michigan coach say something about him being the hardest worker he ever coached? And wasn't he the 1st captain of that team as a Junior or something?

The Michigan hockey team has competitions running the stairs at Michigan Stadium (the football stadium). They are basically races as to who could get done first. During his tenure at Michigan, Hagelin was undeafted; he never lost a stair race at Michigan Stadium. He was very well respected at Michigan, more than any player that I've seen there in a while, and the Wolverines have actually struggled since he has left.

Edit: Very long, but interesting piece about Hagelin.

Being a Rangers fan to many people means viewing each game as its own season.

Ha that's funny. And very true on this blog. People want to either
Blow up the team or start polishing the cup depending on the outcome
Of a game or 2.

Speed just blazed around that net & help set up the G goal to tie it. My Dad was like "Look at that kids speed", still a sight to see when he turns it on.

Don't know if most on here are aware of this , Torts stared a player of the game hat with the Canucks this year . It was given to the team but a native tribe on the coast of BC (Haida Gwaii) The Canucks played a preseason game in their town and they presented the team with the Haida hat .

Iffy goaltending, a shoddy and plodding defense and a pretty good offense when they focus on playing the game instead of being thugs. Looking at you on the last part Hartnell, Simmonds, Downie and Rinaldo.
