Then Kimmo may need to offer a discount or Schenn or Grossmann could be gone. I'm guessing Grossmann because of age and salary.

There is an outside chance Alt may be ready to assume a top 6 role. He's 23 and should be knocking on the door soon.

- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah unless the cap moves over the 68mil that they are saying it will be than we pretty much have to trade one of grossman or schenn in order to fit under the cap. If it clears 70 mil they can clear the cap ceiling without clearing salary as long as timonen is willing to sign for whatever Pronger's LTIR allowance will be.

No, he can play another 9 games this Season, before his ELC kicks in to my knowledge.
- MJL

So it's max 9 every year? Some say it's 9 collectively; you can do 3 one year then the next year, 6 or any other combo that adds up to 9 eventually.

This is unclear to me and a lot of others, it seems.

It may not even matter Oshawa is the #1 seed in the Eastern half of the OHL & should really have no issue making it to at least round 2.

People forget about him. I think he could be a decent player.

Yes, but rookies that came up during the lockout shortened year last year only get 5. Laughton was one of them.
- Giroux_Is_God

It was prorated to 5 that year because it was a 48 game Season. It's not 9 total. It's 9 a year.

This was hashed out before. Pretty clear that it's 9 a year.

They won't have to trade one of them to get under the Cap. They might if they want to go after a top free agent though.

I could see them signing Kimmo for 4million and having a handshake agreement to pay him say 250k per year to do a bit of scouting in Finland over the next 10 years or so

Isn't Timonen already part owner of a European team?

Depends on how far they go, if they go all the way to the Memorial Cup that ends on Memorial Day weekend if they make that title game.

Right now he's playing in game 2 of his round 1 series today.

I know. He should be entering a period where its make or break. He's not a kid anymore. He will be 23 at the beginning of next season.

I was saying in order to sign both MacDonald and Timonen next year they would.

(And B. Schenn, 2 fourth liners, a backup goalie and gustafsson or other #7 Dman.)

Seems strange to call a guy up if Downie is only day to day. Flyers aren't exactly a pillar of honest injury reporting though.

I was searching google to no avail looking for a picture of Shrek punching someone as a response to this post.

Well it could be one of those day to day aka week per week things.

I fully expected a callup. I mean you have to think, even if he's truly day to day, are they gonna roll Rosehill out there?

I missed it, how many games did Neal get for the stick to the face of that Detroit player?

It looks like Pitt even had a nice PP advantage over St Louis...
