yeah true. im excited for harrington too. his skillset is a little different, so it could be a benefit. i dont know if dumoulin is going to develop into anything noteworthy at this point

Still good to have the depth. If the Flyers go on a run, I hope that they don't decide to sacrifice some of their systemic depth on a short term fix.

yeah. i mean, if you guys have the assets, which you do, i dont think there is a reason not to cash in on them somewhat. like you said, the trick is to ensure that its being exchanged for an asset that can be part of a longer plan as well.

if the flyers moved schenn for a guy like roman jossi, i think that would be the best possible thing that they could do. (within reason of course)

Agreed. I think they might end up making a big push to get a high pick at the draft, try to coax one more season out of Timonen and re-sign MacDonald. In fact, I think they'll lock up MacD soon.

Negative.....Would hate to see B. Schenn moved for a guy like that. Honestly he or Couts would only be moved for a true #1 d-man. Its gonna take patience but I think the Flyers are setup pretty good with d-prospects and young forwards.

how highly do you realistically value brayden schenn?

Things are clicking for the Flyers, B Schenn and a couple others are about to hit and likely surpass 20+ goals for the season, he's 22, this is (assuming no injuries) the first full NHL season of his career...why would we even consider trading him?

Its not so much how I value him, more so I see him in the big picture. Schenn for someone like Jossi doesnt help Flyers that much at the moment. I like Jossi, good young player but not not the type of player I would trade Schenn for. But to answer your question I value him pretty high, solid #2 center who still has upside.

because i ultimately think you guys can absorb a loss in the areas that schenn provides. whereas a guy like jossi would bring in pretty much what you guys need. that young, cheapish, controllable mobile 2 way guy. can likely grow to replace timonen. you resign Amac, and bring in jossi. your d corps have essentially been overhauled from the beginning of this year.

I'd much rather grow from draft to draft, see what the kids down in the minors can do, and pick off free agents in the off-season. I absolutely do not want to trade a 22 year old #5 overall pick who is just starting to find his game while retaining an aging player like Lecavalier.

I haven't seen much of Josi so I can't speak to how good he is.

I have a pretty high opinion of Josi, so thats probably a large factor in my decision. I just realistically dont think you guys need to have that whole oh lets just bide time for 3 more years or so mentality. the flyers can hang with pretty much anyone.

I think you guys are stuck with vinny. he doesnt bring back much of anything. so thats kind of a non relevant factor in the evaluation for me. it would suck to lose schenn. hes probably going to be a 25 goal 60 point guy with consistent second line time. but i think there is a much better chance of his production being able to be replaced than finding a guy like josi internally.

See I would be open to moving Schenn but not for Josi. He has too many injury concerns (concussions) and I dont think is quite good enough. I would go after Lindholm or Trouba. If you land someone of that quality then no dice.

The way the Flyers are playing right now, and the fact that they are even in the playoff mix with the start they had is a pretty good reason to be optimistic. And management has been smart as far as holding on to the youth. You don't go through growing pains last season and early this season, see things start to click, and then start trading players. It makes no sense.

The Flyers wouldn't expect or need much back, if anything, for VL. He's not youth you need a return on, and moving him is all about cap space.

Again, I don't know much about Josi, and I think you've probably got pretty good judgement, but we have some players in the pipeline that are going to hit in the next season or two, so if I'm the Flyers I'm very slow to pull the trigger and move any youth away.

My God, if Winnipeg would trade us Trouba, I'd hop in the car and make the trek myself to pick him up. That said, no way is Winnipeg moving him straight up for Schenn. Now, that being said, the Flyers and Winnipeg do seem like good trade partners, but I'm not sure of the deal (do not want Buff).

I think realistically, the young defenseman in the Flyers system are more then a year or two away from being top contributors to the team. Someone like Alt may be able to come up in a low minute 3rd pair role. But not to the level of a player like Josi is now. Not saying I would make the deal, but Josi is a real good young defenseman.

If they're hell bent on getting rid of one of Enstrom or Byfuglien, I'd be all over that. They're on fantastic contracts for top-pairing dmen in their peak productive years.

It would all depend on the trade cost... very reluctant to part with B Schenn.

Enstrom, yes, I'd be interested. Byfuglien, I don't care if they're giving him away. I'll pass. And I think the term top pairing defenseman should be used lightly. He is elite offensively, but defensively, not very good. Combined with his style of play and his weight issues, the Flyers would be foolish to pay a top price to acquire Byfuglien.

Flyers will play the Rangers most likely.

And correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the only way the Flyers could play Toronto or Montreal is if Flyers were #1 in the division where they play a wild card. #2 and #3 play each other in the same division
