I know what you're saying. I know why you're saying it. I understand it completely. If I were a better man, I'd say it.
But I cannot say it. I simply cannot. That franchise, from Lamoriello on down, can absolutely go eff themselves.

You mean. No overtime please. The devils are 5 points back. They aren't exactly out of it. |

I truly believe the courtesy and respect the Flyers have shown Vinny...I just think that is going to pay off.
His transition hasn't been totally smooth. But I know he can still play. You can see it. He's got some adjusting to do to as an aging player, but I still think he can contribute offensively.
I don't mind hiding players, because that's coaching. Somebody's always getting protected.
But I truly believe Vinny has more than a few goals left in him, for a couple of seasons, including the playoffs. I sincerely hope I'm not wrong about that, because I honestly believe it. - AllInForFlyers
He's always been a big game player, 52 points in 63 career playoff games, so I think he will be a big help this spring. And not just on the ice, but his class and leadership can only help off the ice as well. |

I do think he has class -- this can't have been the season he envisioned. But I think his body language on the bench and on the ice have never wavered. I really do think he wants to help this team, be a part of it, and not live off his past.
I think he really is trying to make the adjustments, and I hope he is able to do so.

I seriously hope so. I know he has been playing well recently, but it scares the hell out of me how mediocre this team is when he is playing bad. We rely completely on the PP and Giroux to win games when he isn't in tip top shape.
At least couturier has been a rock throughout the season. |

Ha! You did! And it would benefit us for the Rags to not get points today. You are totally correct.
But man...that means they would. As JSaq said yesterday, I'm rooting for "Meteor." |

True -- the Flyers, like most teams, look totally different when their second line is going.
I've beaten it to death, so I'll leave it here: I always like it when players choose to come to Philadelphia through free agency. Yeah, it can be debated that this contract was a luxury, not a necessity.
But Lecavalier chose to come here. I want the guy to play well, think/hope he can. I would take no pleasure in seeing him falter. |

He, more than anyone on the Flyers, really benefited from the olympic break. I think he still needed some time to heal up. |

Agreed
We all bust on Ed Snider to some degree, but one thing is for certain, the guy cares. Not only that, but they treat their players extremely well both during and after their playing careers and they are truly one of the NHL's destination franchises because of it. |

Yeah we are one of the few teams in the league where the owner takes the team on his back and will do whatever he feels necessary to win. We get on him for having a lack of patience, but in his situation you would be doing the same thing. I don't think I could be a hockey fan in a market that struggles to reach the cap floor. |

We paid the most money and we were the only team to offer a NMC. That isn't exactly a hard choice. |

Exactly -- they're not alone in doing so, as we all know.
But it does matter that they give guys like Ian Laperriere an opportunity to work in the organization after he sacrificed the rest of his career for them. It matters that Bob Clarke is around. It matters that Ron Hextall has returned. It matters that Terry Murray is allowed to return.
I know it's a fact, a truth, that it hasn't won them a Stanley Cup. And yeah, that matters, a lot. But how you treat people matters, too. It will always matter.

Well, it can be looked at that way. NMCs are part of the sport.
But he was also looking for a place where he fit. He could've taken a short deal, saw what else was out there for him, been a mercenary.
I choose to look at it as he wanted to find stability to formulate his second career, as a support player. I could be wrong, but that's how I look at it.

Offering the most money only works 99.9% of the time.
Suter and Parise didn't take the most money. |

I'm not saying he is a bad guy or anything. I'm just saying the flyers are always the team offering the most money. It isn't really anything too special when we get a guy on our team... What is special is when a player is willing to take a discount to play for a team. Freakin cup diggers like Iginla. |

Statistics will tell you that the team is going to lose a few games out of the remaining 13 they have.
I would much rather have them lose today or Monday against the Kings rather than losing against any team in their conference at this point.
What I hope for out of today is a solid showing and if they lost 2-1 or 3-2 it wouldn't be as damaging to them as losing the same way to the Rangers this week. |
