Also, Mason came up big that period.. kudos to him..
- Hextall271

He did make a few big stops. I remember one off a deflection that showcased his great reflexes. He's done what he's needed to do.

On another note, just saw that Downie hit....I don't like that at all. Get out of his (frank)ing way...you had like 4 seconds to do it. Downie wasn't even looking

McGinn?

you'll get Rosehill and like it

(frank) that. Replacing a waste of skin, with a waste of oxygen is a lateral move at best.

Good work.

I think the Dzone coverage isn't as bad as we're making it out to be. STL is winning battles on the boards, but that's all they're given really...except for that scoring chance a few seconds ago, it seems like they've been confined to the perimeter, which is good.

Gotta get one here. Let's tie it up.

Gonna be Read.

Against the Blues, it's going to be a territorial game of inches. Flyers have had some chances, but got some bad bounces. Need to fight for every inch of space against the Blues.

He doesn't look completely settled in there, but the saves are coming. He did his job.

The first line is getting some work done 5 on 5, and the 3rd with Coots is mainly a shutdown crew.

That 2nd line, with LeCavalier needs to get going. Doing jack poop. That will go a long way toward winning this game, they need to contribute.

That hit in Downie was very borderline

The blues guy popped with his shoulder blind side
Downie wasn't looking, and shares responsibility, but the hit wasn't clean imo

That's what I see -- it was never going to be easy, but the Flyers got some decent looks at the net.

They're gonna score. I don't how many. The Blues might beat them.

But they're not out of this game, at all.

Just need Nutter to go the Blues blog and start talking bout shutouts, that'll get us one for sure!!

I didn't like that period at all.

- FlyerGuy

I just don't think it was as bad as you think. They're clearing the zone for the most part, breaking out well, and keeping the Blues to the outside. Not every game is gonna be the 4-0 thrashing against the Penguins.

I think they can win this game.

Agreed. I said this too.

I also said I thought he had ample time to get out of Downie's way- the defenseless and vulnerable player.

Always wondered why any Hockey player, who is a Human being, should be described as a waste of oxygen simply because the player is not liked.

I think they're fighting hard. They're moving their feet and working hard...the Blues are just winning the battles.

That being said, I think the board play evened out by the end of the period.

Scapegoat-call all you want, but I really despise LeCavalier.

Turd on skates. Doing absolutely nothing on that 2nd line, to help lead the way. I would rather see someone else replace him on that 2nd PP as well.

I think the Flyers are gonna have a big 2nd period. Giroux was clearly ticked off after that double minor and when G gets mad, the Flyers win games!

The Flyers certainly could have had a couple, but based on the overall play of the two teams I think the Blues easily could have had another couple as well.

Maybe their scoring chances weren't as prime as the Flyers, but just about every time they had the puck there was danger looming.

Flyers are lucky to only be down one.

- FlyerGuy

I have to agree with GiG on this one. Other than the odd man rushes, most of the blues shots were from the outside. They've had more o zone time, bit I think the flyers have had the better chances.

I feel like Simmonds is gonna get a dirty goal, and vinny is going to redeem the 2nd pp unit.

They also need to fire the puck when they have a lane -- the Blues backcheck too hard, cover cross-ice stuff, too well for you to get them going side-to-side.

They're not letting you have the pretty stuff.

Fire it, get to the net. That's how you beat them -- it's not easy. But you gotta get there for rebounds.

I couldn't tell until the replay between periods but it looked like a real dck move
The guy popped his shoulder into Downie's head quite purposefully

Thing is, G has lead this team for a while now and yes he should do so.

He will be target #1 if the team makes the playoffs, and they really need that 2nd line to start stepping up. They are a black hole right now.

I think they got better as the game went along. Need to get some dirty but good goals, against this team. Unlikely they're going to get anything pretty against this team. Starting the 2nd on the PP.
