R.J. Umberger's a healthy scratch in Columbus.
When it goes...sometimes, it goes fast - AllInForFlyers
Of all those forwards, its Jeff Carter and Joffrey Lupul who are still scoring. |

He had a fairly large role in Jersey Girl. He wasn't bad either. I don't recall him doing many movies. - PhillySportsGuy
He had a couple of small roles in the 70s, Car Wash was one that I can remember, but I know there were a couple of others.
I'm just glad I was able to see him perform live many times and over a long period of time. I think I first saw him when I was still in high school, summer of 82 I believe and the last time was at one of the AC casinos in 2006. He was always topical, sharp and just a frankin riot!!

Surprised about Umberger, he looked ok against us just a month or so ago. I believe he is still under contract for 2 or 3 more seasons as well. |

I never got to see him. I didn't really get into standup until my senior year of high school. I didn't learn about Carlin until college.
It sucks that great comedians keep dying and were left with guys like Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari and the such. I just don't understand how people find these guys funny. |

There was actually talk of him being bought out prior to this season...I read that he still competes hard, but the hands are gone |

It seems like Richards and Umberger really aged quickly. They were never great skaters. I guess once they lost a step it really hurt them. |

He has 33 points in 68 games. When you consider his defense, I'm not sure why they would want to get rid of him. Its not like he's supposed to be some top line center. |

Richards was never going to age well, because of his skating, but even I wouldn't have guessed it would be this fast and this dramatic |

I laugh more during Star Wars and the Marvel movies then I do at stand up comics.... Those inside jokes are great. And I still Shout STAN LEE every time. |

Yeah, but I still like going to comedy clubs, some of the performers, who are people I've never heard of, are fantastic. Of course, some of them suck as well, but it's still a relatively cheap night out.

It's interesting there -- Umberger's cap hit is something like $4.5 per year, and Columbus, I guess, doesn't have the cash flow to keep a player who is paid that who isn't producing at that level
I definitely got the impression that they'd feel better about him if he was making $1.5 |

That makes sense, it only takes losing a bit of speed to really hurt a player who didn't have a whole lot to begin with. |

He is on my fantasy team... A lot of his points came early and has pretty much dried up from there. Still good for plus minus and hits though so I keep him. |

I give them credit for it, because they deserve it.
But they're gonna eat Richards' contract. That's just gonna happen, if not now, then soon |

Yeah, I think if Columbus is willing to eat 20-30% of the contract and cap hit, they will have no problem dealing Umberger. He can still be a very effective 3rd line player who can chip in 20 goals and 40 points and help out on special teams. |
