From my experience most intelligent contractors will throw out bids that significantly lower than their competition. Same goes with ones that are way high. If you have a good relationship with them, they may tell you that you are way low/high and give you a chance to take another look at your bid.
It's not always the low bidder that gets the job. Key is "Qualified" low bidder. - Streit2ThePoint
The department of transportation doesn't care. Low bid wins, end of story.
It made sense at inception to save money, now it's abused to give work to friends or political supporters.
It's meh... Sad... |

So, word is you have a few thoughts - good, glowing, positively polite even - regarding construction bids? - wolfhounds
Lets just say what I learned in school is no where near how things are run in the real world. Real political. |

No, total sarcasm.
And I agree with the last part. Like if I need to pay for car repairs. I'm not going with the low guy, cause he'll be using crap parts. - jmatchett383
So no PepBoys eh? Those guys are crap no matter where you get work done. |

Perhaps. If the earth is going to turn into water world, it doesn't matter when. I say we focus on finding a way off the planet. Lets move to another planet. Will need to eventually anyway if we are to survive. - Flyersgod
Yes, when the sun expands in 4 billion years, the Earth is doomed.
And in about 10 billions years, we'll have to continually move from star system to star system to find new sources of energy. |

No doubt. Books learning is idealistic. It's like when lawyers and politicians learn about ethics...why bother? |

I don't have a problem with Cole. He made one statement that was misinterpreted.
I don't see how Howard being stubborn makes Jimmy's lack of leadership excusable.
Let me just say that its unimportant because the team will suck regardless. I just don't think Jimmy should get a free pass on the rest of his career because he won a world series. - PhillySportsGuy
I do. Like I've said, he won a WS, the only championship during my lifetime, so he does get one from me. |

It's been over 40-years since a human has left low earth orbit... only way we're getting to another star system is by transporting our digitized consciousness over a laser beam or something crazy like that. |

So any predictions for Saturday's game?
4-3 Flyers.
I think since they have experience with Miller they can find ways to get some past him....hopefully. |

It didn't look like he hit him that hard or that on target but I've only seen crap angle replays. I'll leave it to the guys to tell me if this one was a Malkin flop or just well deserved...

Had them do work on my company truck, said they changed a bunch of stuff, had another company look at it. Found they didn't even change my break pads until I took it back in and complained about the brakes.
We sued them, they settled so quick it's like they knew already. |
