You can! I taught myself....I still can't even read music.
Just learn the chord shapes and REPEAT THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Music is a pattern. Once you have the skeleton you can fill in everything else. - Giroux_Is_God
I'm a bassist, I'm not supposed to know what chords are. |

How great would it be if Albany pulls off this upset. It would (frank) so many people. - PhillySportsGuy
I thought it'd be a moral victory if they kept it within 30 |

I've been playing bass for almost ten years, and I'm still not sure if I've actually learned anything about music. |

I never knew how you guitar guys do it.
I've had an acoustic for about 4 years, tried on and off. My fingers just wont bend, or stay in the right position. |

I know the feeling.
I know zero theory. The only thing I know is how to make chords different...flatting the 3rd for a minor or how to diminish a chord etc etc and common progressions just from playing Elton and Billy Joel for 3 years.
I've been reading up on theory and "real" chord progressions and relative minors and things.
I figure the only way I'm going to learn about theory is to write songs. So I'm writing songs. Just finished one in Eb...now it's looking like Db is gonna be the next victim. |

How many bass players does it take to change a light bulb?
None, the keyboard player can do it with his left hand.

Did you hear about the drummer who locked his keys in the car?
It took him two hours to get the bass player out.

I don't know how six string guitarists do it, there's like a million tiny strings all up on each other. You'd need a microscope to play those damn things. |

Ive been playing for 25 years and learn something new every week. Sometimes really basic stuff.
Like taking a pentatonic minor scale and flattening the root. All of the sudden I am Al Dimeola
