Just to pay big money to superstars who seem to lack heart.

just looking ahead at teh playoffs. if they started today, flyers would play nyr (for the first time since 97), and if they got through, the winner of pittsburgh/toronto in the 2nd round. i like their chances all around. i feel like they could take ny in a series, csp and all. and i think they're in pittsburgh's head a bit. toronto scares me a little for some reason though.

true. its still fairly early for me. and the market isnt exactly great. but to make matters worse, ive been having a roller coaster ride like swing as to what i actually want to do.

So the nhl playoffs is now a bracket system? If so I hope they start the next rounds right awat and don't have to wait for the league to finish.

Yeah I was thinking in terms of the march madness style, but that doesn't technically make sense since the wc can come from either division. It might just go by conference seed like it used to before, but than why revamp the system. I dunno, Im confused now.

They are obsessed with having division rivalries. The new schedule doesn't allow more as many divisional games so now they made it so divisional opponents will play each other in the playoffs.

Andy Macdonald has solidified the back end so far. I've seen him play for the Isles a ton and was never super impressed, but he has been great since getting here.

Things get easier when you put decent players around him, limit his minutes to under 25+ and don't play him against the toughest opponents on every shift like he's Chris Pronger.

Reseeding was what made the NHL playoffs a perfect creation. Its enough that they missed with the format of how to get in, now they may have screwed with the mechanism itself? It should ALWAYS be the highest available seed plays the lowest available seed every round. Any other way is stupid.

It's funny, but putting people into proper roles is obviously anything. I didn't want Kimmo back this year let alone next year, but he allows everyone else to play their role (aside from being great this year), especially now that they have AMac.

My gf made me turn it off and watch the recording after her show was over. Pissed me off, but she works long hours so it's not the end of the world. But, 2 - 2, going into a tie in the 3rd period is like the hardest thing to turn off.

That's what happens when you take a player like MacDonald, overextend his minutes and play him in a role he's not best suited for. He becomes a sacrificial lamb. Now put him the right situation, with support, and all of a sudden he looks like a hell of a player. That's life as an NHL defenseman.
