And the NHL offices have nothing to do with Suggestions being floated by the GM's at the meetings ? These new proposed policies are direct shots at Buffalo's organization. I find the new proposed policy about teams not being able to hold their own combines the most ludicrous. If you go to the grocery store do you not look over the steaks before you pick one ? If a team is willing to take on the expense of holding their own combines good for them . NFL teams bring players in for individual workouts before the draft , so do NBA teams. Not the NHL the old school gets its way again.

WOW!!!!!!

I bet you are the kid who when he doesn't get his way, takes his ball and goes home.

Anyways, from what I gather, this is NOT A NEW IDEA, just something they decided to publicly talk about this year. I love how people think the NHL has it out for Buffalo. Don't you think if they actually did not want Buffalo to succeed, that there would still be a franchise here?

And comparing the NHL to the NBA or NFL is like comparing apples to oranges. YOU CAN'T!!!!

once you get past the idea that the nhl is actually one of "the big four", buffalo looks like an ideal franchise. our fan base has 15,500 season ticket holders with a waiting list. we are on the border with canada, which allows sabres/nhl fans from southern ontario access to games- a bonus with the canadian dollar being as strong as it is. we have an owner thats worth 5 billion (i havent checked recently, i believe its 5 billion) that absolutely loves the team and the sport. this is what nhl franchises (especially ones that dont have the benefit of a huge market) should be. we have a history in two sports of winning exactly zero championships (gotta be getting close to 100 seasons combined for the bills and sabres), and the fan base bristles at any perceived slight. i dont think lafontaine needed to go to new york with any kind of inside information to point out that we are in a rebuild. my guess is that next years draft class is considered so choice that several teams might decide to "rebuild" next year, and the league cant have 8 of its teams icing teams that absolutely suck.

But by expanding the opportunity to more teams to tank, wouldn't that ecourage more teams to be just a little worse than they could be?

He is still young . People don't want to recognize that . Has the best off season work ethic on the team , Been through 3 coaches in his short time here, not too mention umpteen line mates that have been traded away. And he is a smart hockey player . His game will get turned around. Players will not get traded because of Teddy it is Mr Murray's decision who stays and who goes.

You are a typical Darcy fan. You think every guy that is young and is with this team will be a superstar. He may workout with Gary Roberts in the off season but during the season he is lazy. Get a grip Murray will get rid of him sooner than later.

He is in the NHL offices . You think he does not talk to people . Float stuff by them . C'mon it is the old boys network. They all talk to each other about numerous issues . Does not have to be let's get the Sabres . It can be do you think this right , type of Scenario . And it grows from there.

Where are you going to move a franchise that will be more successful ? The owners do not want another Phoenix or Florida . It would effect the old profit sharing big time. And why not compare to other professional sports teams and how they grade their potential draftees. It is a business.

Not a Darcy fan at all . But I do not believe in throwing the baby away with the bath water either . This player is still developing . The situation around here has been toxic and sure has aided his growth as a player. Murray like smart players . He is smart . If you develop his defensive game . Who says he cannot be a good 2C for this team at a very reasonable cap hit.

So you, having no inside or working knowledge of the LaFontaine/pegula situation are making some sweeping assumptions. I know you have "heard things out of the first Niagara center" about what happened, but in actuality you haven't not. You have no clue what happened and probably never will.

If you have, please tell us your source and exactly what they said so we can be informed.

So now you are taking 5th hand information and are making assumptions about LaFontaine fulfilling his owns agenda to screw buffalo. Which again, you have no idea about and are makings sweeping assumptions.

Sorry pal but I really don't believe pegula slapped lafontaines hand and it is now his lifelong mission to destroy buffalo.

Get real.

I know a few that work down there. No detail . But they said Patty had his moments . I don't care at this point . He put a lot of work into hiring Tim Murray . I like what I hear from him so far. So if Tim turns things around , I am forever grateful to Patty.

No team has ever been proven to tank a season except the year the Penguins did it for Mario. And even that is circumstantial.
- Blackstrom2

Ottawa was certainly suspected of doing that for the Daigle draft, didn't work out too well for them though.

Leave poor daigle alone, he had a long career, he just wasn't great.
