If you added a Moulson and say an Evander Kane and drafted Reinhart thats 3 potential top 6 forwards. I would think that would help a lot. It would all depend on the Islanders pick. If we don't get it this year I would think they would try to be better next year.
Our current top 6 has maybe 2 top 6 players (Ennis and Stafford as second line guys). Its all what ifs and such but you add better forwards the D gets better just by not having to play in our zone all game long. - Stripes77
If this panned out, would you rather have:
Moulson-Hodgson-Kane
Stafford- Reinhart-Ennis
or
Moulson-Reinhart-Kane
Stafford-Hodgson-Ennis
or
put Reinhart on the third, have Stewart remain in the top 6 and let Reinhart adjust to the game on the third line with Foligno/Flynn/Girgensens? |

OK - you still havent addressed the point that the NBA isnt making money - but the NHL is trending towards that model, which was more of what I was trending to.
The NFL experience sucks live because you have to sit through a ton of 2 minute tv timeouts because the tv networks have to recoup their investment. There is something to learn from that as well, no question, but also the reason that it sucks going to games...

NBA does one hell of a team to spread teh wealth out amongst its teams. As you can see ownership in the NBA is pretty solid. YOu dont see nearly as much leaving do to money issues more along the lines of like in the case of Seattle oh you wont build a new arena oh ok well were doing to OKC Deuces Bro-mer Essiason |

Girgensons Reinhart a vet FA
Mitchell Flynn (he has center experience) Deslaurier
Im assuming Foligno gets moved to get Kane FYI but I wouldnt mind him on the third line with Girgensons and Reinhart |

I forgot about Stewart myself. The third option wasn't even a thought until I went through. |

The bottom 6 looks like a real bottom 6 for once. I think Flynn would be a serviceable 4th line center. He can get you 15-20pts a year and can kill penalties. Sure he isnt that bruising hitter but neither is Paille for Boston. |

Sacramento had their moments but you're right they're usually on top of it pretty quick.
I doubt it would work but I'd like to see the NHL adopt a soft and hard cap the way the NBA has it. Not exactly word for word but I like the idea behind it. |

Youd be fooling yourself if you think Moulson wont at least think about coming here once FA is over. We have the most money to give, Teddy as coach (should be settled) and he would have even considered going back to the Isle but they straight out said they dont want him there which Murray never said.
Also would you pay Ville Leino to finish his contract here or give him a compliance buy out and give Callahan 7 mil for same amount of years Leino has left? I understand we want to be bad but with a team in the gutter and no identity I would buy out Leino and give Callahan his 7 nil. for the same remaining years Leino has. We get a better Leino and a leader.
Food for thought even with it all being speculation - Beezer33

I'd atleast buy out Leino and use his 4.5 and add 1.5 and give it to Moulson |

I am pretty sure that the NBA is not as healthy financially as you are suggesting. Being a Billionaire owner does not make your league solid, it just means that you dont mind losing money on your product.

They do a lot better job revenue sharing and making sure that money is distributed top to bottom in the league. For example 1 million Druant Jerseys are sold its split evenly.
When was the last tiem youve heard a NBA team claim poverty? WHen have you with the NHL? NHL every year NBA never (chase more money yes, claim bankruptcy no) |

Right but Miller isn't clutch. Or something, I havent figured out what I can still criticize him for yet. I'll think of something.
I got it, Crosby owns him - sbroads24
Time will still tell, winning regular season games isn't clutch. The blues had the 2nd best record in the NHL with games in hand on the team that was first.
I hope the blues win or at least get to the semis for that extra first. |

You mean like the league buying the New Orleans Hornets in 2010? Or the 2011 league statement that 22 of 30 teams were losing money? $370MM per year?
They may have made adjustments since the new contract 2 years ago, but dont try to sell that the NBA is completely healthy. |

If you could please find the universe I said the words the league is healthy. I said they spread the money around nicely. You should put as many words in others peoples mouths as Ville Leino has goals. |

So to not put words in your mouth. 5 teams were sold in 2010, at least 1 in 2011. I dont know if we are talking financial issues in all cases - but as I mentioned the NO Hornets were taken over by the league. they also said that they were losing $370 MM. Perhaps that better summarizes my response to your statement above - I am sorry if I took your bolded comments as to suggest the league was healthy financially. Leave Lieno out of it. |

With Nolan coming back I think it increases the chances that we could sign Moulson. He left on good terms and since we are so weak on the LW, I wouldn't have a problem with 5 years at 5m per. |

That website is a joke. The person who runs it probably picks the names out of a hat. MyNHLDraft is much more accurate, even though they only give up a 1st, sometimes a 1st and a 2nd. |

i can't see this isles passing up a top 3 pick, regardless of what they said in a press conference. Realistically i think buffalo needs them to finish at about pick #5 if they are going to get it from them.. - IndianaSabresFan
Agreed, I can't see them passing up on top 3 if that is where they get to pick. If they did, then Darcy even pulled the wool over Snow even further because he sold him that he could have the choice of which year, even though a top 3 selection isn't enticing enough to keep it. I think it would be a mistake to not get a player now for them, with the status of JT in the air for the start of the next season (I wouldn't want to rush back their franchise player. Or they could give the Sabres that pick, hoping it makes them better, giving them a better shot at McDavid. Don't know how that'd sit with the fans in the new stadium, but a possibility. Either way, Snow will frank it up somehow. It is kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation he's set up for himself. |
