you think we move out of the top 5 if we have it?
- JCSabs06

No, I don't see this team being a bottom 5 team in the league next year. Moves have been and will continue to be made improving the team. They will make two trades during the draft that will change the direction of this organization.

He was promised he would be playing DE here and they will adhere to that promise.
- dadeadhead

That's too bad because a 4-4 with Alonso playing the rover would be epic.

It's so unpredictable at this point. They can easily leave this team close to what it is now.

Sure and be 22mil under the lower cap limit and see the NHL punish them by taking draft picks and fining them.

Someone broke it down and figured out that they only need to sing 7 mil worth of FA or trades with giving our RFA's a 15% raise to reach the floor.

The add of Mitchell, Stewart, Nuevirth helped in that regard

If memory serves me Mario had zero plans to visit any team that was going to be running the 3-4 that had him playing OLB.

I see a winger being traded for, and us drafting Reinhart.

They had 28 mil before the moves. Add in the buyout of Leino it's closer to 22 mil. Take out the 7 mil to re up Ennis and Foligno, they still have 15 mil to spend.

Isn't that based on the cap rising?

2 scoring wingers, Reinhart, and BPA from the islanders pick.

There is an easy way to get around this. Play mario at end, but also use him as a standing rush end. Move him in teh middle at times and run stunts.

Or you can just go Williams-Dareus-Wilfork-Hughes. Allow Williams to sub in at either end or DT.

Williams-Dareus-Wilfork-Hughes
Alonso-Spikes-Lawson

That is a scary front 7.

I know like you said, he does not want to play in a 3-4.

There was a report it may not rise as much as originally thought due to the "Decline" of the Canadian Dollar.

Reports were around 68 I believe.

That is a very solid front. I have read articles where not only was Wilfork close with Pepper Johnson, but also Brandon Spikes. The three of them were apparently sort of a clique.

It'll still be closer to 70. They do that backtracking every year.

It could be. But it seems that most are expecting it to be around 68 mil due to the issues with the value of the Canadian dollar recently.

July 1st brings out the crazy in ppl.

Not over 7 years . Folks are talking now that his value is way down and he will be lucky to get 3 to 5 years.

Deslauriers takes place of Foligno.

Foligno+Ehrhoff for a young top line winger.

I have to say, since the cap came into play, this is the first time they gave an estimated figure for the next year, and then came out months later stating that it could in fact be lower.

I agree with you, but there is a long list of guys who fit this bill, Heatley, Daniel comes to mind.

But ill say this the team who does pay him big like this, wont be very good in say 4 years when hes going to be a shell of his former self

I'd like to see more Deslauriers before I go shipping out Foligno. Who's to say he doesn't end up having some of the same consistency issues we've seen from Foligno?

My hunch is they get Evander Kane. Ehrhoff won't go out west though.

Im not worried about reaching the floor. Its a lot less than what people think it is because Murray brought in ~$8M at this years deadline.

If we:
-CBO Leino
-QO to Ennis, McBain, Foligno
-Promote Kaleta back to NHL

We have $38.669M spent on 16 roster spots. The lower limit will be anywhere from $48M to $52M. We would have to fill in 2 defenseman, and 2 forwards, plus up to 3 extra players (roster size of 23)

Using the lower end, we'd have to fill $10M with 7 spots, and using the upper end we'd have to fill $14M with 7 roster spots.

Now, Its likely that Ennis and Foligno receive higher than their QO which are $3.062M and $0.850M respectively, and we could even give McBain a higher 1-2 year contract than his QO of $1.9M.

It should be interesting around here because players that most people don't even want on the team may get larger contracts so we reach the floor.

The only player I could see you referring to would be McBain, and I dont think hed get anything outrageous.

Unless you're counting Ennis and Foligno which I have heard a lot of people say trade Ennis but thats hilarious considering hes been our best forward for the majority of the season. Foligno is a fan favorite, so I havent heard too many people say trade him, but I personally wouldnt disagree with it. I think those 13 games a couple season ago inflated his value and hes come back down to earth.
