Like I said many times... Too many on here are all excited about tanking and building through the draft..... It aint gonna happen folks... The Sabres will be screwed no matter what....
- rapperray

They waited too long, it would have been fool proof if the process started a few years ago.

It seems pretty risky to "assume" the Sabres will have the number one overall pick. They still have to win the lottery and remember... This is Buffalo we are talking about and Buffalo does not do well when it comes to winning and/ or luck....
- rapperray

Not that the lottery might be rigged as well or anything but.

Maybe, Maybe not. Sabres don't need multiple years of high draft picks. We have a ridiculous amount of prospects and picks in place already, not to mention cap space. Sabres will be fine

You need high end dynamic forwards, specifically centers, you don't have them. Guess where you find them? Top 3 in the draft.

True. However, EDM second is basically a late 1st rounder. Also, there is probably a good possibility of flipping Gagner for something like a 1st rounder in 2015...I think Yaks could be quite good given a change of coach, he's quite young and has TONS of potential...way too early to write him off.
- mventres

There are a few things I see wrong with that picture!
I don't want to take no more Russians on this team.
Second, I don't want to keep rebuilding forever, and that will happen if we keep on flipping for picks.
Keep the 1st overall.

Why ? Rochesters basically a feeder team. This might be a blessing in disguise.Enroth is average and Newie hasn't even made it thur a few games and something s wrong with him.Give the kids a taste of the big time and lets see how he does.
- buffalo 1

If Rochester had a guy that wasn't a complete tire fire for the time Lieuwen is here, I'd be fine with it. But for development's sake (which is really what this year and next is all about for the kids there), a playoff push is what should be best for the club overall. The Sabres have no legit shot at anything other than being 30th out of 30. Might as well give the kids a chance for a playoff run in Rochester. It's valuable experience that they can't get with the big club right now.

A friend texted me saying it's looking like Enroth could be done for the year (I'm assuming he found this on twitter, but I can't check because I don't use Twitter).

Not sure on Neuvirth. But if Neuvirth isn't going to be out long term, I still think I'd rather see Hackett here as the backup and give Rochester a chance to make a good playoff push with Lieuwen.

Murray has said they want Rochester to make a push this year and having Lieuwen here hurts that.

- HonkFortheGoose

i really have no worry about it either way.. i know they want to win in Rochester but with the team that they have the goalie shouldn't matter all that much.

What goalie they have shouldn't matter? Really? I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on that one.

Yes we need Reinhart. Are future doesn't solely hinge on drafting McDavid or Eichel.

It's not like we finish 30th next year and end up drafting 15th. We also have the Islanders 1st this year or next year.

We also have center prospects in Grigorenko, Compher, Larsson, who are all playing quite well at the moment.

If the Sabres future depends on 1 or 2 players in the 2015 draft. We should just fold the franchise now

How would you feel if Lieuwen does great, and never goes back to Rochester?
It's possible.

The Sabres prospects are greatly overvalued on here....... They have no prospects who even look like they could score 25 - 30 goals in a season. The defensive prospects have so far been all bluster....... So I guess I disagree....

Not exactly what you want to see if you are the Buffalo Sabres:

This would be one of the most BS things the league ever did if true. I'd really love to know their rationale.

And this is irregaredless of it affecting Buffalo or not.

i don't follow rochester all that much so correct me if i am wrong... but didn't leggio do better than Hackett? Hackett is a disaster and i am not sure how promoting him will be good for rochester or the sabres organization. send him down the ECHL and bring up Knapp..

Multiple outlets have the Sabres having the best prospect pool in the NHL currently

I think our prospects will be just fine.
I am going to stay positive, as we have seen enough negativity surrounding this team lately!

as a whole we have a good prospect pool... but there are none that are elite potential.. and that just leads to 1st round exits..

Understand your reasoning but to me this might be the only way this kid gets a real chance with the big club . Id rather see him go thru the fire with the big club.I think strength is forged thru fire.

I have to say that the general whelm of our prosepcts is positive, that is to say that they are whelmed. Personally I'm overwhelmed.

Which is why we will get a top 2 pick this season. We don't need to do it 5 times in a row like Pittsburgh, we are in 10x better shape then they were. We need 1-2 elite level picks like Chicago did.
