I love how people.. I mean radar/military experts on hockeybuzz think that the whole plane is under surveillance by sophisticated military gear/intelligence. - WaterBoy
I spend enough time in the US Army to know how it works.
When I was deployed to Afghanistan with the 3/4 Air Defence Artillery unit (82nd Airborne Division), we had radar visibility of the whole entire middle east if we wanted. We saw every plane that took off and landed within 1000 miles radius.
I guarantee you that some one, including the US picked up the plane on radar. |

This would explain why 26 countries are spending millions researching the plane. |

It's called justifying resources/training exercise.
When in Iraq, my unit use to do so many unnecessary exercise. If we didn't do these, the budget would be cut.
Planes are flying all day long in the world. They never have a real mission other than "patrol". Now they have a mission. Why not go with it.
It's as clear common sense as it gets. |

All the transponder does is give data as to who they are. They still show up on radar, just not with a little note saying "MH370" next to the mark.
Any metal object moving in the sky, transponder or not would still show up in the sky. Even stealth planes come in and out. Has nothing to do with transponders.
You think missiles have transponders? "I'm coming to blow you up, approaching very fast, HAHA"? |

1000 miles radius<<<< 3million square miles.
The us doesn't cover the whole planet with high tech radar.
I'm quite sure the US wasn't looking at that flight that specific night. You should know that if you ain't looking at something specific, you can't see it.
Anyways, Idon't give a (frank). |

So you agree that, they don't know if they did see that plane on their radars...?
Just wondering. because what reports are suggesting is that the plane was in an area where military radars aren't used 100% of the time (mostly in india) in order to save money...
And I don't know why would a soldier based in Afghanistan look at radars covering the indian Ocean... |

The really sad thing is that no one is discussing the discovery of the, up until now, theoretical gravitational waves that occurred in the rapid inflation of the universe fractions of seconds after the Big Bang.

1. Yes, believe it or not, the US covers the whole planet with many million radars and satellites
2. they likely were not looking, but if they wanted to find it, they would take the recorded date (I think it's still recorded onto a DVD) and look at it.
3. neither do I, still wondering how it wasn't filtered.... |
