The Walrus won the Jack Adams last year and is likely to miss the playoffs this year.

You have a point there. However, Boucher has been successful coaching the Habs' best players in the AHL, and he's been successful at the NHL level. He is by far the best candidate, and a much better option than Therrien. The only other feasible option would be Larry Robinson, but he's not francophone, and I'm sure we could get him as D coach behind Boucher (which would be awesome).

I love Patrick Roy.

But it's a great thing for both sides that his first NHL coaching experience is elsewhere.

Who knows, maybe one day....

Guy Boucher is the obvious choice. Even though the end of his tenure in Tampa was rough (as with all coaches who are fired), he did take them very far in the playoffs. Furthermore, he coached Subban, Pacioretty, and Price in Hamilton, and won the award for the AHL's top coach.
