No doubt. Two 'top line' prospects + is way too much for a first overall. |

Hey Sabres fans. I want your opinion. Which scenario, 1-4, would you prefer to happen in terms of our draft pick scenarios over the next few years? I wrote an article breaking down each scenario. Would love your input.

If your asking my opinion its Reinhart. But I think it could be anyone of the three of
Reinhart, Ekblad or Bennett... Depends who Murray likes the best |

I vote draisaitl for the oil if we keep the pick. |

I see Florida pushing hardest for Buffalo's 1st pick, especially if things DO finish as they stand now, etc. Oilers will hope (and look and listen) to see if Ekblad will fall to them @ 2nd, especially given the Sabres organizational depth on D. . . . That, combined with Florida's disappointment to have lost the 1st overall pick last year (they wanted MacKinnon), methinks they want Ekblad bad!! They passed on Jones and took Barkov, solidifying themselves down the middle with prospects; to me their need on the blueline is only exceeded by that of the team drafting one slot higher. Sort of a must trade situation, almost.
As far as the Oilers . . . for a chance at Ekblad I would keep the #2 pick. If Ekblad is lost because Buffalo does draft him or trades the pick, etc. etc. . . . . then I trade down if I am the Oilers. . . . Or combo the pick with another asset to strengthen the D as has been mentioned 1000 times before! Personally, though, I would like to see the Oilers make a bold move and explore what their first round pick in 2015 might get them. Given their track record of high draft picks, what might someone part with for an improved chance at Connor McDavid!?! That being said, the Oilers should ONLY do this (or some combination of this deal) for the absolute stud of a player (Weber always enters my mind!), and a player of that ilk would undoubtedly improve the Oilers enough to leave them well out of the Connor McDavid converstaion. Double-edged-sword if there ever was one!! |

So I'm guessing the "trades that didn't happen at the deadline" blog that you promised has gone the way of the "Oilers and Kings talking massive deal" or the "eyes on Carolina" blogs? No updates,no accountability on your end Ek?
(frank)ing joke.

Interesting for sure but I say there no chance Buffalo gives up the 1st overall. I can surely see them parting ways with one of their three but it won't be the 1st overall. Buffalo. I believe Ekblad will be Sabre.
Only way Sabres trade that pick is if Edmonton steps up their game and offers RNH or Yakupov and their 1st. |

And their first? Hardly.
I'd listen to RNH for the #1. Pass on Yak - we already have our own Russian headache. |

According to the Buffalo fans last week, their Defence is squared up forever with what they already have, and that there's a 0% chance they draft Ekblad. |

poop I meant RNH and/or Yakupov and 1st, not RNH and a 1st.
Am I saying it's worth it, no? But if they want Ekblad then it's going to cost them. |

oh hell yeah you do! Perfect two-way defender for the future, plus, he has what we lack, a right handed shot!
Phaneuf - Ekblad
Gleason - Franson
Gunnarson - Rielly
Holland can replace Kadri as the 2nd line C . Re-up Bolland. |
