If I'm 7 other teams in the East, Philly is the last team I'd wanna play in the 1st round. Cause even if the Flyers lose the seires, you know it will be a gruelling punishing 6-7 game series, the other team will be out of gas for the 2nd round.

its funny because Brian Burkes name was the first one that came to my mind when I read this headline as well. I could see him trading Baertchi along with another prospect no problem. While it appears Baertchi has improved him play quite a bit in the AHL this year, theres no doubting that Burke is not a fan of his game.

Not like Brian Burke isnt known for pulling off some major draft day trades as well.

If they do that I hope it's actual top line prospects not like the garbage they received at the trade deadline. We need guys who can skate shoot and score not just big guys who skate around and scare children in the stands. When I say score I mean a guy who projects to be more than a 10-15 goal scorer. I would never trade the top pick. Ekbald looks good but unless he is for sure going to be the next Ray Bourque or Paul Coffey I would pass, so sick of seeing defensemen drafted at top of draft who are not big time scoring D men. Luke Schenn lol, waste a top five pick on a guy who has zero scoring talent.

Mantha? Anyhow I don't think it means that prospect can't have played any NHL games...just that the prospect is close but hasn't established himself in the NHL full time yet. Like Jurco or Sheahan for the Wings...played because of injuries but still not really full time NHL players if the team was healthy.

If anything I would start a bidding war between Edmonton and Florida for the 1st pick since both those teams need Ekbald and the sabres don't. If the haul is big enough it would be worth it. Especially if buffalo gets the isles pick this year.
