If anything I would start a bidding war between Edmonton and Florida for the 1st pick since both those teams need Ekbald and the sabres don't. If the haul is big enough it would be worth it. Especially if buffalo gets the isles pick this year.

I don't think TB would move him at all now with stlouis gone, but maybe there's another team that wants Ekblad really bad. The only thing I could think of my Habs offering would be a 1st, Eller, and maybe patryn and Leblanc. But I know that wouldn't get it done.

The last time I remember this kind of discussion actually making any kind of a difference was between Florida and Columbus over J.Bo and Rick Nash. Not sure how they actually did it but draft day went down different than expected.

Buffalo does not need another D prospect. So, I assume, Murray would drop down (or not take Ekblad) for the right return. Probably does not happen but a good idea to float. Especially with the other teams immediately behind them in the draft also loaded with prospects.

This isn't the first time I have heard this since the Sabres moved Miller.
If they win the lottery I would expect them to listen to all manner of offers. I would not overpay to get this pick.
