Niskanen is getting a lot of praise this season, and rightfully so. But I really thought that he had more than 39 points.

Just for comparison, in Gonchar's last season here when we all thought that he was too old to resign, he had 50 points in 62 games. Letang had 38 points in only 35 games last season.

This team is really missing some offense from the blue line. Even more mind boggling that Despres is in the press box.

Engelland fell, not like he had a bad giveaway. In theory, it's not a terrible idea.. he has a good shot and will take it. You just don't want him handling the puck much.

It's one thing to play him on the 4th line. It's another all together to have him playing on defense. That's Despres' spot. Shouldn't be in danger of losing it right now---even for a couple games.

Absolutely agree... the team shouldn't be in that situation in the first place where Despres is scratched over Engelland, especially with the other injuries they have.

Oh great... another power play

At least they didn't give up another shorty. No odd man breaks either. Progress!

Effective elbow thrown by Downie on Megna - no penalty. Go figure. That is Downie's game.

Totally ignored by the official 10 feet away. Great push by Crosby. No call for interference when Maatta made push.

The call was missed on Downie for sure.
The two players off side that even gave the Pens a chance at the end was missed also.

Briere is still off side. I assume you had no problem with that.

Yeah...well so was Briere

I'm happy with the effort to get back in this one. I'd like to think we'd be better off with some more help up front. Good couple games for you guys. We'll be seeing you.

Lose a game by one goal where the first 15 minutes you play like complete dogsh!t for the first 15 minutes...

At least they come out to play for the last two periods.

At least they showed some balls in the last two periods. I wasn't expecting much, but at least they showed some f'n effort.

I'm so done with Dan Bylsma....

We're complaining about the missed call on Downie? I take it as a blessing that our "power" play didn't have to go out there and fight the puck for two minutes.

Special teams were far from special today.

Megna was flying out there. I hope he didn't get hurt from Downie.

You can't give a team like Philly a 3-0 start. I give them credit for playing hard after they were down unlike yesterday but it was too little too late.

Of course, Filly has never benefitted from a no call offside.

Sure they have, like the Pens/Isles/every other team ever.

Again though, what does that have to do with today?
