I really think they get pissy with Coots because he is one of the most effective checkers of Mary Kate and Ashley in the NHL. I think it's nothing more than that.
- Giroux_Is_God

It seems like every time Sid and Malkin were about to get going Couts or Read was standing right there and knocked the puck away.

Pens are such a fluid team and little things like knocking the puck away just destroys their entire rush. They don't like to dump and chase. Especially, with Malkin and/or Crosby on the ice.

I dont understand what the Flyers do to piss them off. Are they yappers? They seem to get angriest with Couturier and I don't think he talks much.

The best part was when Pierre said Couturier challenged Sid to a fight and Sid declined.

Its Coot's silence that infuriates them

I was one of the people who thought the team was flawed and the coach wasn't. I was wrong. Lavi just didn't adjust. They needed to start playing a similar game to other teams by keeping the third man high. Lavi's system was so risky and constantly put our defenseman in precarious positions. Kind of makes you fully understand how valuable Pronger was.
- PhillySportsGuy

The team was flawed, and the coach was, too.

I think that the coach really felt he could run any kind of system with any group of guys and that he was going to live and die with how he wanted to do it.

Its kinda the equivalent of saying: Voracek if out with an injury, you know who would work well with Giroux? Rinaldo.

I have no idea. I think it's because Couturier's like a straitjacket, and they get frustrated by not being able to escape and do the kind of things they do against other teams on a regular basis.

Crosby is usually able to put the anger aside or funnel it into his game and dominate or at least be highly effective. Malkin is definitely more prone to retaliatory penalties...but it's a team wide thing. They get off their game and start running around and it's chaos

- Jsaquella

I don't think Crosby plays well when he's angry. He's like the opposite of the Hulk. I like him very much when he's mad.

While Malkin is prone to retaliation, Crosby is prone to diving and complaining when he gets agitating.

I wonder if they pull Razor out of moth balls on Tuesday? Mason has carried a heavy workload. He hasn't played this many games since '10 and is easily on pace for his most games ever in his career. Gotta get someone else in there at some point.

Its amazing how much better the west is than the east in the OHL.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yup, it's why I'd expect the OHL champ to come out of that side.

LOL @ Eddie O going off on the non call from Downie.
- Pixote Andolini

Did you hear earlier in the game, how Eddie was whining about Downie holding Malkin's stick... The stick was in Downie's arm pit, Downie was just trying to keep the stick out of his face. Maybe the question should have been why didn't Malkin get a hooking.

I get that the Pens are really banged up, but Bylsma may as well have put a trash can out there and tied it to Crosby's ankle for all the good Glass did.

Its the Pros and Cons of being a good coach though. Coaches are taught early on to trust the system and trust what they're doing or the players won't believe in you.

Stubbornness can be a positive and negative at times. Its difficult to know when the system needs changing or when the team needs to just keep plugging away.

FWIW, Carchidi tweeted that it sounds like they're going to go with Mason vs the Hawks and Emery vs the Stars

I agree. The problem is, you have to look and see what you have on the roster. If I have Grossmann, Schenn, Meszaros and Coburn in my top four or five, I'm not playing firewagon hockey.

I would reverse that.

Flyers are playing 4 games in a row against some of the fastest teams in hockey.

Really looking forward to getting another crack at the Stars…Not so much the Hawks

Yea. If they thought Streit was going to fix their problems on the backend, that's really stupid. If they wanted to stay with Lavi, they should have done more than just add Streit. They needed a bigger move, which I wouldn't have advocated.

It's a couple weeks of Hell for sure. Hawks, Stars, Blues, Kings, Rangers, Leafs, Bruins over the next 14 days. No back to backs is nice, but only one day between each game.

It's not much better in April. Blues, Jackets and Bruins to start before they get Buffalo, Florida, Tampa, Pittsburgh and Carolina.
