everyone ? i don't even think i voted

Exactly -- i've only posted a couple of times this week, total, before today

I didn't say one thing negative about the team after New Jersey because they deserved a better fate

JSaq said it a few weeks ago: Enjoy the ride. That's what I'm doing

i think it clearly favored pitts after the 1st, but who cares? they won both games and gave themselves a good shot at gaining ground over the next week or two

The Pens should have gotten a 3rd period power play due to a careless elbow by Downie, that wasn't called.

Here's a pet peeve I have. If a clean hit is leveled against one of your teammates, why go after the player who made the hit? It's part of the game! If it's a cheap shot or a dirty hit, okay. But otherwise, play on. And wait for a chance to give one back legally.

You're my favorite optimist.

GIG has always been a staunch supporter of this team. He thought they'd do well through this stretch.
- PhillySportsGuy

Even in the beginning of the year I thought they had the tools to turn the season around. Just a matter of getting rid of Lavi. His style just wasn't right for the personnel on this team.

Hate to say I told ya so

I'm excited for the gauntlet. We all should be...this is really gonna show us what this team is made of. IF we see the Flyers emerge in a playoff spot come the end of March, I don't think there should be any doubt they can make some serious noise in the playoffs.

Just move your feet boys.

I believe AMac with his skating ability and hockey sense really helps Schenn. Looks like AMac is pretty decisive with his decision making and is able to hold his own in the corners. The third pairing is playing well together. AMac is going to have play close to 20 minutes a night down the stretch and in the playoffs.

i agree, but the flyers should have had at least two power plays in the second (stick slash on downie, interference on read leaving the D zone [may have had a breakaway]) and one or two in the third. third was pretty evenly not called but the second was bad

MacDonald, thus far, has been very capable of making the little plays that get the puck out of danger without making a mistakes.

That's vital because Grossmann & Schenn can be adventures with the puck, and Coburn's hockey sense sometimes takes vacations. But he's been nothing but steady and solid since he arrived.

They know they need to raise their games against these opponents. If they make the playoffs, they will have played fairly well during this gauntlet. If they play well during this stretch, they will go into the playoffs with confidence.

Me too. I had so many arguments about the team lacking confidence cuz lavi screwed the pre-season up. That they never lacked the skill. Dunno if I joined these message boards at that time though. But I also was a defender of bryz so I guess to much faith can be a bad thing.

Exactly -- just because Downie could have gotten a penalty doesn't mean the game was evenly officiated

It's great when guys with potential pay with confidence. He seems to dwell on bad decisions too much and get in his head.

I beat the Laviolette drum as loudly as anyone. I felt he should have been fired during last season. Not that he's a bad coach, just that he was unwilling or unable to adapt...one of the reasons I hope Dan Bylsma is the Pens coach for the rest of my lifetime.

I think its about having confidence in your partner as well. Its hard to trust a guy like Mez when he's out of position and not going to win many board battles.

Edit: I think the last group of games fooled them into keeping Lavi could change the team into a better defensive unit. Those last few games were really fools gold.

Hey guys...gotta idea to try out. When we play the Flyers, it gets nasty and we take dumb penalties and they win, so let's put Tanner Glass out with Crosby to start the game!!

I dont understand what the Flyers do to piss them off. Are they yappers? They seem to get angriest with Couturier and I don't think he talks much.

The best part was when Pierre said Couturier challenged Sid to a fight and Sid declined.

I was one of the people who thought the team was flawed and the coach wasn't. I was wrong. Lavi just didn't adjust. They needed to start playing a similar game to other teams by keeping the third man high. Lavi's system was so risky and constantly put our defenseman in precarious positions. Kind of makes you fully understand how valuable Pronger was.

I really think they get pissy with Coots because he is one of the most effective checkers of Mary Kate and Ashley in the NHL. I think it's nothing more than that.

I have no idea. I think it's because Couturier's like a straitjacket, and they get frustrated by not being able to escape and do the kind of things they do against other teams on a regular basis.

Crosby is usually able to put the anger aside or funnel it into his game and dominate or at least be highly effective. Malkin is definitely more prone to retaliatory penalties...but it's a team wide thing. They get off their game and start running around and it's chaos
