What ever happened to the post where you were going to talk about trades that didn't happen at the deadline and the talk behind them? I was really interested in reading that post. - crebar

It said "favorite".
Scotty Bowman, the most successful coach
Badger Bob, great but gone very early
Mike Keenan, disciplinarian, tough but master of the art of coaching
Trotz and Ruff, for longevity
Al Arbour, for his great cup runs
Dan Bylsma, for his technocrat coaching and great utilisation of top talent
Jacques Lamaire, the boring best
Mike Milbury, the feisty one
Ted Nolan, the most unlucky of the coaching fraternity

Pat Burns & Pat Quinn. Not crazy about Quinn as a GM but as coach he & Burnsie are my 2 fav's. Just wish Quinn could have coached at least one cup winner like Burns. Even if Quinn had won 1 cup b4 his time in TO or after, he deserved at least 1. |

Ya but Cherry couldn't count as a coach. Remember Don, only 5 forwards allowed on the ice. Especially when your in game 7 late in the 3rd with your Bruins up by a goal on the Habs whi were the 70's dynasty. Not a good time Don to make such a tragic numeric error. Saddest part is that his Bruins would have played the Rangers in the finals. So Don's semi-finals miscalculation cost the Bruins a cup. |

Definitely Al Arbour....he took over a team for the 73-74 season and made the playoffs in the 74-75 season and upsetting the NYR (who were heavily favored) came back and beat the pens down 3-0 in the series (almost did it again vs the Flyers), won 19 STRAIGHT playoffs series, won 4 straight cup (went to 5 straight) AND upset the Pens in the 1993 playoffs! HE WAS PHENOMENAL COACH, dont get me wrong Bowman was great but Arbour did some great things with teams that were not as good (excluding the 4 cup team). |
