I've learned a long time ago not to place too much stock in scouting reports. I trust the Flyers staff because, well, I have other choice but to, but also because they have a pretty good track record with their first rounders. So, I really don't get upset when they go in another direction that I believe, based on the various online reports, that they should go in.

With Laughlin, like any other draft selection, it's usually at least a 3-5 year wait-and-see to begin to determine whether the pick was the right one. This is not to say that he was the BPA, but I believe he was the BPA on the Flyers' board at the time, and with that, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And if he happens to turn out to be the next Doug Gilmore, that'll be fine with me regardless of who they passed up.

Same with Morin. Time will tell. Patience, grasshopper. Until then...

This sounds like my rant on why I think following the college football recruiting trail is silly.....

I don't care for pinning expectations on kids like that. Especially kids not out of juniors. It feels weird and unseemly to me.

How is Morin looking defensively? I guess specifically how is he looking against the more threatening forwards/lines in the league?

From when I've watched (it's not all of them), he's look good.........still some growing to do but he has gotten better as the season has gone.

Cool. I hope he keeps it up.

I'd love to be able to catch some of these games at some point. But for now your updates are just fine.

That's all I'm looking at, whether his game is better at the end of the year than it was at the start. I don't want him to reach his ceiling until he's well into his pro career. Whether he progresses slowly or quickly. it doesn't matter as long as he keeps progressing.

Do like that he has a mean streak, even if he has to reel it in a bit.

Yea. It's easier to teach a player to tone it down than to amp it up if it's not in his nature.

Flyers have their own destiny in their hands. Do not need to hope for another team. Do have the ability, to determine their fate.

The real ride of this season begins against Pittsburgh, and I for one am excited. Time to buck up, and one last ride for the great Finn. I hope they rally around him.
