You'll have to settle for someone older(doesn't have to be a Spezza deal) or someone who has that upside but hasn't reached it yet.

Burrows hasn't lost a step IMO, just a brutal year with injuries and luck. Most of us already though that 4.5 as a cap hit was a bit high for him coming into this season, but he'll still be a quality top 9 player when his luck evens out.

yeah didnt think he is playing bad hockey just as snake bitten as a guy can get with a really weird season for you guys. But have a feeling he might be a scapegoat by moving him in an attempt to "improve this hockey team" cliche qoutes you hear from GMs trying to redirect heat off of themselves

That's a pretty big ask for a guy who has problems lasting an entire season and is a pending UFA the next season. Good luck with that one.

yeah you wont be getting a trade like that, based on his age, health, and pending UFA, you would most likely see packaged deals of players, prospect and picks.

No one is going to toss you a Top pairding dman going into their prime unless you add more than just Spezza as further incentive.

Stupidity is arguing that Karlsson isn't abysmal defensively. He is. Junk.

Elite offensively, admittedly. AHL caliber in his own end.

Realistic return on Spezza is going to be a Top 6 Forwad, a decent prospect, and a high draft pick. Realistically he will be acting as a rental going into next season, and thats pretty typical top tier rental return.

Unless he is extended his value hovers around that return

Did you know there isn't a single defenseman in the entire NHL that has more goals scored against him while even strength than Erik Karlsson? Worse than Byfuglien, worse than Andrew McDonald. The absolute worst in the entire NHL.

Bogosian sure I can see that, maybe guys like Edler, Jack Johnson, maybe even Brian Campbell or Yandle.

But It would be a bigger deal than swapping 1 for 1, multiple players and picks to balance it all out

spezza will get at least as much as kesler. both same age, similar injury history. kesler better defensively, spezza better offensively.

kesler has 2 years lect on his deal, so not exactly a long term acquisition either
