My final line was going to be "Gillis is retarded" but that would have made it 6 syllables and then not a haiku

A Made up thought on Jason Spezza being traded at the draft & Prock & Spatso turn it into Ottawa's team will be moved in the near future.

I firmly believe the NHL will expand into new teams next instead of relocation of city's. I'm not sure this should be the way, but this my opinion.

Besides if there were going to be a team relocated it would not be Ottawa. It would be Florida or Phoenix or Long Island... Oh wait the islanders are moving soon.

There were some interesting trade rumors flying around last week involving the possible availability of Sens captain Jason Spezza. In fact this was the most I can ever remember team captains throughout the NHL being in play and even actually getting traded.

Ok ??? what about captain Marty St-Louis that got traded that same day ?
Short memory I guess ?

Hey Eklund,

Just wondering if you are ever going to post the trades that never happened.

I enjoy Prock's repeated assessment of Turris as a player who "sucks" because his highest career points total has been 29.

Ignoring that:

a. He's improved his point total every year he played (except last year, but he scored the same number in fewer games then)
b. He didn't get a lot of playing time in Phoneix
b. The two seasons he got 29 points he played 55 and 48 games.
c. He's already surpassed that total, with .71 points per game, on pace for 58.

Is he an all-star right now? No. Is he the 53rd highest producing player in the league this season, heavily plus on a minus team, a reasonably-paid second-line centre, and likely to get better? Yep. (44th in goals, btw)

The guy has the same number of goals as Thomas Vanek. He most certainly doesn't suck.

Uh...

"In fact this was the most I can ever remember team captains throughout the NHL being in play and even actually getting traded."

That was straight up a major point of what he was saying - lots of captains were in play, and two even actually got traded.

easy there big fella, Turris is a solid 2nd line center on most teams in the league. your stats pretty much back that assumption up.

Well, this thread certainly substantiates that prock's hate for the Senators is only eclipsed by his trolling ability.

Who doesnt love spezza guy is a class act, injuries have slowed him down but when he is on he can still rack up the points with the best of them .And he will still take the time to sign a kids hockey stick or puck.

Why would a team trade away their number one centre who is also their captain. I dont understand why the Sens would do that. I will gladly take him on the Leafs
- TonkaPhaneuf

That is why so far it still remains a rumor. However, I am pretty sure if he does get traded it won't be in the eastern conference, definitely not Tdot!

Turris will stay with Ottawa and has a good chance to develop into a first line center and a star in the next 2-3 seasons. However, does this mean we should get rid of spezza? All those rumors came prior to sens acquiring Hemsky. Those two are playing so well together. I bet all of this rumor will vanish in thin air if Ottawa is able to sign Hemsky and Ryan for next season. My two cents.

25 years old to start next year. Guys that are that old rarely make huge jumps forward. A star? I'd say the chances of that are slim to none.

In fact, given his years and years of crap play, his crap play recently, and the fact that he's crap, I'm gonna say it's more likely he doesn't crack 50 points next year. He's already returned to that level of output. Lower, in fact.

This. Wow.

At the draft a package centering around Edler and Spezza. Edler gets to play with Karlsson and Spezza takes Kesler's spot after he is delt.

Don't be silly, Buff is the second worse guy in the league at playing D. Karlsson is the worst.
- prock

Yeah cause you have to be really bad at defense to win the Norris eh...

lol its so funny hearing people say karlsson is a defensive liability.... they dont even watch the games they just repeat what they here from reporters.....

part of defense is puck possession and karlsson played 30 minutes a night with the puck on his stick 50% of the time.... I watch 95% of sens games and know for a fact karlsson is not a defensive liability. i hat how everyone focuses on his negatives when his postives completely outweigh his negatives..... dont mention his plus/minus (ottawa is top 5 in the league for goals againts what do you expect his plus/minus to be?)

His positive frequently outweigh his negatives, that is true.

But it is a fact Karlsson is a defensive liability. If Sens fans weren't being ridiculous in claiming that he is not a liability, you probably wouldn't get the same reaction as you do. Just be realistic on things, and stop denying he's terrible defensively. It's not like the rest of us are denying he's the best offensively in the league. If we can do it, why can't you?
