We just have way too many players...

Left wings - Cammy, Hudler, Glencross, Baertschi, Galliardi, Klimchuk, Poirier
Centers - Backlund, Monahan, Stajan, Colborne, Granlund, Knight, Bouma, Reinheart, Byron
Right Wing - Jones, McGrattan, Westgarth, Hanowski

Even if you move Colborne, Bouma, and Knight to the right side, there's too many bodies.

I think that one of Cammy, Hudler, Glencross will not be here to start the year next year. I predict Glencross will be traded at the draft.

Also, you forgot Gaudreau.....add him to the mix and it's even more crowded. Needless to say, the cupboards are far from bare!!!

Put bluntly, no. The flames will not trade him for less. If you read my posts, I never said he was Pronger, nor did I say the Leafs should or would make this deal. Just letting you know that these discussions of "gardiner and a 1st" are so far off the mark that Burke would laugh and hang up.

I think you might underestimate what Burke thinks of Gardiner. He did draft him and trade for him after all. Consider him the Lupul of any trade, But I digress.....I don't see Giordano being moved either. He's an awesome d-man, one who can take the burden off of your young d-men coming up.

I think (barring unforeseen trades or signings in the summer) I think Granlund is on the big club. Wouldn't be very surprised to see Poirier make it either.

I agree about Gardiner. If TO wants to move him, he'll be a Flame at the draft.

It would suck to lose GlenX but I would do that. Maybe we could wrangle a 2nd as well.

It'll probably be Gardiner to you guys for Wotherspoon and a 2nd or something.

More like broken.

Stralman for a 2nd, and Gardiner's worth at the moment is higher than Stralman's was.

Wortherspoon is the real deal, have you guys watched him? He is fricken 20 years old, and he is not looking lost out there. He is always looking (quick sholder checks) around to see what the other guys are doing who aren't even near the puck.
Wortherspoons potential is >>>>>> than Gardiner

I can't see how a 21 year old with 4 NHL games to his name has higher upside than a former 1st round pick who was on the NHL all-rookie team at 21, playing over 23 minutes a game in a 7 game series against the bruins netting 6 points at 22, and ranks 2nd among leafs d-men right in ice time and leads their defense in goals. But that's the way it is, prospects are always greater than young players in the NHL that are no longer deemed prospects.

Yeah, I'm with you here... and I was kidding about my edit above.

Wotherspoon has been a very pleasant surprise so far, but it's way too soon to start comparing him to a guy like Gardiner.

To be honest, I haven't really been that impressed with Wotherspoon so far anyway. Not to say he hasn't played OK. But I don't think he's anywhere near ready.

Actually, there's been conversation on the Leaf threads of Gardiner plus our 2014 1st for starters----the problem we have is our gm paid too much money to Clarkson so we got no cap to work with.

We do know how good Giordano is dude.

- mykokes

That's the best offer I have seen from a Leafs fan yet, but it still isn't enough. And to be clear we don't just value Gio the player, it's the whole package that makes him invaluable to us. So unless it's a massive overpayment he remains a flame. Unless of course he wants out after next season, then we trade him at the deadline.

Considering that we've played the majority of the season without Glencross, and have been doing just fine leadership wise. I would not be opposed to trading him at the draft if he would let us....I actually forgot Glencross played on this team for awhile.
